I honestly got a tingle listening to this. I don't know what it is about this guy but everytime I hear him and his songs I am so happy and also sad. I long for a much nicer time in an almost forgotten past.

I totally agree Peter, I think I'm probably older than you, I miss this country and how it used to be so long ago. I miss actual silver coins and swearing not allowed on TV and not locking our doors and block parties and gasoline at 27 cents a gallon and I could go on and on. I also miss the music of yesterday and the artists we loved so much.

Dear arianebog5472 Had to add this after listening to James singing the wonderful 'Frozen Man '. Your words got to me , I lost my lovely wife in 2019 and still think about her every day but I happen to believe that death is not the end but the beginning and somehow James Taylor's inspirational words and music seem to reinforce that belief and have certainly touched my soul . I am so sorry for your loss but at least that man's songs continue to heal us . Patrick Small singer songwriter.

Though I don't know him, I've known his voice for over 50 years. I sing in his range, and he inspired me to play guitar. Then, after my home burned down in 2017, my sister got us tickets to see him in June 2018. What a blessing from my sis. 6th row, center stage. During intermission, he came to the corner of the stage, and I was face to face with the legend. I kindly asked him to sign a cd. Which he did. Then I asked to thank his people for getting us there to see him, how it meant so much....after losing our home. He took my hand looked into my eyes and said he'd heard what happened...and wished us a smooth journey getting back on our feet. He's real, people. And I love and value that moment....and I love the warmth and kindness he shares. Thank God he survived his earlier demons. Blessings JT.

A three minute introduction not to be missed! "Anyway," says James, "The song's not as long as the introduction" [audience laughs] and be sure to stick around for James' 2 minute extro: "I realize now this is just another song about my Dad." Love this 'live' version -- thanks for sharing with us! This has always been one of my 'Top 5' James Taylor songs. Especially for the bridge. Like all great composers, Mr. Taylor uses that middle part to take the melody in a new direction -- and our hearts with it. Mine always soars when James sings It took a lot of money to start my heart just to peg my leg, and buy my eye. Newspapers called me 'state-of-the-art' and the children when they see me . . . cry

When one of my sons was little, he became obsessed with the National Geographic account of The Frozen Man-and then by this song! When the movie Titanic came out, then we had a lot of morbid chats about how long it takes to freeze to death… good times, good times.

I used to played this song to my junior high Ancient History class. Like James I didn’t know much about the real history of the body. I had the students imagining a human being born more than a couple of thousand years ago! I think I just wanted an excuse to play a favourite song.

James never served in the military. Not that there's anything wrong with that, and I doubt he'd ever try to pretend he did. I believe it was because of his merman health issues that he wasn't drafted.
