In my final semester of masters, we were taught that galaxies are collisionless , the shape and structure is not becoz of collision, nor it has been formed due to collision. we also did the mathematical proof. Now this is pretty interesting if this new galaxy's shape is being described on the basis of collision ( which will be confirmed soon, it's not that complicated to prove this, it's simple velocity change calculations of the stars in that galaxy during it's life time, bug again precision is not guaranteed, hence so many discrepancies. If we don't even know the age of universe correctly as per this video, then this shakes up so many calculations). This will change most of the narratives that we study in astrophysics. Also one more important aspect to explore in the field of Cosmology will be to prove that supernova massive explosions are not the only source of blackholes.. it can also be formed by some other means if somehow the condition is achieved ( or was achieved during the formation of universe itself ) Woww, this is pretty excited, cosmology (theoretical physics) and astrophysics (observational and experimental) is going to be one hell of a field of research in the upcoming ywars. I had dropped the idea of PhD for now, but this is making me curious once again to get back in this field. 🔥 Edit : Ok but then collision theory was for the galaxies that can be described by our physics at the moment, who shape and sizes have been as per laws and prediction. But obviously if something is not in structure, collision obviously is the perfect explanation. Great , this is literally very very interesting 🔥 Edit 2 : also i didn't get the last part. I mean how can we expect the galaxy to be flat when universe ( Space -Time ) is itself curved, i think you misunderstood something here ? Space in itself is bend, flatness of such a big structure like galaxy sounds absurd, infact i have not studied or taught anything like this till now. Maybe even I'll have to study more on this, this is confusing, some context is missing for sure.

6:20 if you compare left and right image of cartwheel galaxy,u can observe a bright dot in right image towards left in outer ring of galaxy which isn't present in left image.Thats a star that had gone supernova 500 million years ago nd we saw it now(as cartwheel galaxy is 500 million light years away from us) Like those of you who saw the supernova;)
