I have been a space and science nut as far back as I can remember! I too cannot wait to see the universe through the eyes of the JWST!!

What a magnificent and incredibly gutsy venture this is! So many things to go wrong . . . so far from home with no repair mission possible. I keep thinking how the Hubble mirror got screwed up. This is immeasurably more complex. I will be on tenterhooks during launch and deployment!

Terry Danks She mentioned that certain parts of the deployment could be attempted more than once. I wonder which ones those are.

I can't get it how they stabilize the scopes in the the space fixed in the same position ..without moving.. Knowing that Hubble for his deep field...fixed one tiny space..for so long time

So the james webb space telescope always stays on the shady side of the earth?
@ttrestle6 жыл бұрын
Tantiwa Hopak No. As she said in the video, the JWT has an onboard sun-shield that shields it’s instruments from the sun. It doesn’t need to stay in the Earth’s shadow.

America was going to go to Mars but instead went to Iraq.

I love the robotic exploration of space. This thing is a colossal money pit. Not long ago, the heat shield got torn and screws fell out to the floor. Now they want another billion and over an additional year, and no body knows if this origami on steroids will unfold. It will be way too far out for repair. Launch the damn thing already, or de fund it! Yeah, I know, stop funding wars bla bla. So take money from your kids education fund and donate it. No? It's about priorities. Ten billion is enough already!

Brian W You got multiple things wrong in your post. You would do well in a place where citizens not only don’t understand science and scientific benefits, but are poorly educated in general. I’m getting the impression that you are a Trump supporter. You’re probably a christian too...
