Absolutely and James drops these lines with such great aplomb. If there is ever a kind of Top Gun IIl or similarly hip 80s-type movie with cool dialogue Monsignor Canty could be perfect casting 😀👏

Nice. Just seeing this in 2022. Nice to have a tool against my favorite defense and also to prepare for this offense.

Thanks for your video, that's great! I tried your variation in one of my games (i play around 2000 elo on lichess), and it works really well. There is a good design and you are so pedagogic! That's great man 👍

7:00 I think 10.Bc4 preparing the e6 blow is very strong. Black can't really stop it. If they try 10...e6 themselves, they have too many weak diagonals. White has 11.Bg5 forcing 11...f6 after which 12.Bxe6+ picks up a free pawn.

Once again James I have to congratulate you on another fantastic video. You are a brilliant teacher because you know how useful humour is in helping people learn something: "this is battle tested" 😁. I admire the fact that you gave a nod to GM Roman (insert fabulously long and hard to spell surname here) who is another great teacher. Your channel is fantastic. Keep up the great work👏

As a new player, I have used the Pirc for months now. Still learning. Under 1500. My goal is to get in an even end game. Success rate increased to over 80 percent with the knight on f8. Do enjoy these videos on how to beat the Pirc. Thanks.

Great video James, I've always had trouble with pirc players, they always seem to know their setups better than white but this looks good! Any ideas for when black delays castling?? A guy at my club always does it and it's hard to get to him. Annoying!

Hello, I am enjoying your Pirc and KID video's a lot as I play them as black. Regarding this video, more often that not, I would play 6. ... c6 (with e5, Qa5 or Nbd7 in mind) rather than a6. Wouldn't c6 that refute your line as after 7. a4 Nbd7 8. e5 dxe5 9. dxe5 Ne5 (threatening Nxe6)? Thank you for your lessons!
@JamesCantyIII3 жыл бұрын
c6 is played too! Roman Dzindischashvili plays the same line with that, it's very hard for black! Can still be played against that line, or sometimes playing Bc4 after the e6 move. After 9. dxe5 isn't your king hanging on f6 still?
@1968laugro3 жыл бұрын
@@JamesCantyIII Thank you for your reply. This is the sequence I mean (with c6 instead of a6): 1. e4 d6 2. d4 g6 3. Nc3 Bg7 4. Nf3 Nf6 5. h3 O-O 6. Be3 c6 7. e5 dxe5 8. dxe5 Nd5 Isn't black doing ok?

I also want to say that when you explain the possible variations, it really "clicks" with me, like its the same way I seem to look at variations, which is pretty unusual with a GM. I am looking forward to investigating your channel further (this was first video ever for me). Thanks! :D

You'd be surprised, if you check the database, you won't find any games in these lines. Roman Dzindzichashvili himself gave this line and it still holds up today! Crazy
