Very humble man, the documentary Knuckle was a great insight into the tough brutal world that travellers are immersed in. James always showed respect to his opponents even when some of the grudges were very deep rooted and personal. He is a great ambassador for traveling people which should be more widely acknowledged instead of having certain members of their community serving their own agenda on TV and social media. A real stand up man James Quinn McDonagh. God bless

not so sure. Many travellers know courtesy and show it,the next they rob you or your in a fight! That's how they have odd jobs doing peoples drive ways etc..some of them come across well and get people to part with cash, even though we all know the gypsy stereotypes

Absolutely superb interview James. You're a truly phenomenal fella. You gave James so much space to speak, yet you had the instinct to zone in on his good character and the great things he has done that would make his Father proud when you sensed he was getting upset about his Father passing. It takes a very special interviewer with an abundance of empathy to be able to not only sense that situation, but manage it admirably.

Just finished watching Knuckle(again for the 4th time I think), not only is it a well produced documentary I find it an interesting watch from a social history point of view and also gives an unbiased glimpse into the world of the travelling community which doesn't normally get seen much by us settled lot, apart from In the cliché and stereo typing such as Snatch and other scripted films. I find James Quinn Mcdonagh comes across in it as being pretty respectful and switched on, I also like the fact he is obviously a "Hard Man" but doesn't want to be, sort of like he is good at fighting but doesn't actually like or want to fight which is quite refreshing in a documentary about bareknuckle boxing. I also really enjoyed this interview on this channel, so I am going to subscribe and watch some of your back catalogue of interviews on here James English, that will certainly keep me busy for a while!

I’m not a traveller myself but think how many arseholes there are outside the travelling community. If 10% of people are arseholes then that’s going to apply to the travelling community as well and travellers will be the first to admit that there are arseholes amongst them. Trouble is you ever remember the arseholes. Living outside the traveller community we don’t think about it in these terms. As they’re a much smaller community compared with the rest of wider society it’s much easier to tar them all with the same brush. It’s lazy thinking though and it’s got to be said comes from prejudice. A lot of the same people who openly discriminate against them would never dare do it anymore from the black or British Pakistani community. The fact that pubs can still openly refuse to allow travellers in based purely on nothing but their ethnicity and be allowed to get away with it in 2023 just amazes me it’s like something out the 1960s, you’d never get away with it with any other ethnic group. Like I said I’m genuinely not a traveller or from traveller heritage myself but I’ve known a few and had a lot of experiences with travellers good and bad. A lot of them really are good, honest, decent, genuine people like this guy. He’s not just the exception

Even after all those years in blighty he's still got the Irish accent. Best of luck with the bare knuckle boxing tv channel and your wonderful commitment to the homeless and hungry. Great advice too.

He doesn't have an Irish accent tho, that's a Traveller accent. They tend to keep their accents regardless of their nationality. A good friend of mine is a Traveller, his son was born in Oz and has never being to Ireland at all but he still has the accent.

James is a real hard man. He's quiet, he doesn't't shout and scream, doesn't try and act all hard in front of people. The quiet people are the ones you don't mess with.

Fair play to James. Sometimes takes more balls to sort a situation out with a talk or walk away than to sort it with fists, or worse.

I’ve watched James over the years and this is the first interview I’ve watched . I’m not a Traveler but I think he is an aspiration to any man well done mate thoroughly enjoyed watching it. If people had the morals of Billy Jo Tyson Fury James Queen McDonagh hard working men the world would be a better place

I watched the documents some while ago and often wondered about many of them and how they are today. This man especially stuck in my mind as I liked him from the outset. It’s amazing to see he’s doing well today and I respect this man massively. Great interview as well
