The Bluetones are a great band. Always a joy to watch live. Also, great job with the transcription, looked note perfect to me! Adam Devlin is a vastly overlooked and under appreciated guitar player in my opinion.

Brilliant cover James and 100 times more accurate that the official LTF tab book I bought back in the day. Must’ve seen them 20 times live, including their farewell gig in London and about ten times since!

Cheers Luke, best approach to cracking a difficult piece is the '20 times method', which is genuinely as simple as it sounds. Any difficult section, play through 20 times, keeping a tally with pencil and paper. Then take a break, and try it again. Keep repeating sets of 20 until you've got it. That's how I learned this song, and it's how I learn every song. Oh... and give yourself multiple practice sessions to crack it, over a 1-2 week period. Best of luck! JH

Just discovered your channel James, and loving it so far! One of the highlights of my first ever festival (Reading 2000) was watching The Bluetones try to follow on from Limp Bizkit on the main stage! And Oasis headlined that night. Great times, and I still love Expecting To Fly. Cheers :)

I did this with the track If, the book sounds nearly right but you watch live and Devlin doesn’t play it the way the book transcribes it. Frustrating but like you I enjoy finding out for myself. This Charming Man is another one. Much better to be able to find out yourself as your learn more in the process. Just subscribed 😀

I remember "Slight Return" coming out. Great tune. I remember it on TOTP (which is another thing that died along with great music). Another good band from the 90's in my top 5 would be Cast.

Key to getting a great accurate tone to play this song is a Rickenbacker played thru a 1990's Marshall Valvestate Stereo-Chorus combo (8240 aka S80)... One of the first amps I ever owned and still in my collection. KILLER clean tones and you can dial in some amazing drive & high-gain tones too. Sounds better than a lot of all-valve Marshall's I've used

The Bluetones are my favourite 90's group. I saw them just once at the Oxford Zodiac. A few years ago I was able to get nearly all their vinyl. Love that D - D natural .

There 2nd album never did it for me. So just stayed on the Oasis supersonic flight a tad wee longer. The Slight Return video very northern feel to it. Like The Verve's Bittersweet Symphony video but that video was made in East London I think.
