Honestly, I love music, and I really want to get into learning how to DJ, but it just feels like such a toxic community. Every video I see there’s always people in the comment section arguing about what being a real DJ is. It’s kind of disheartening and keeps me from wanting to learn. What is a real DJ? Personally, I feel like if you have a good song selection, can get people moving, and have some decent transitions then you’re a good DJ, but it seems like it’s never enough no matter how much effort you put in

I’m so sick of peoples garbage opinions on what “real djing is” first of all just cause we’re not boomers and we evolve with technology so we don’t have 500 vinyls to haul around, doesn’t make anyone not a real dj. Having your set planned out before hand and performing it live, doesn’t make you not a real dj. He’s not scratching because it doesn’t fit the style, I would love to see a good amount of people in here replicate this first try since it’s so “easy”. Nah, he's meh. Skilled yeah, takes a lot of practice to get there. But it's the same loop cutting trick. Sounds fine on all songs. He's not accenting the songs properly. He lacks musicality and elegance.

The set looks live but with heaps of pre production, set structure, loop cue points, samples, remixing tracks and plenty of practice. I’ve watched a lot of his videos and many of his mixes follow a similar formula in the breakdown. Timing wise, they’re easy and predictable to follow, as is most dance music, for the lighting/effects people. Chops to the guy, he’s a pretty good technician and will throw his balls on the line for a spectacular mix. Some of them there is no coming back from if he stuffs them up.
