You can definitely hear the influence of the Byrds in this song, especially the opening guitar riff.

Nice job as always JJ. Petty said he walked around with that riff for weeks before coming up with the lyric.

Congratulations for sharing. I would recommend on the bridge, substitute the Bsus2 for A/B (leave only the bar finger) \m/

Just out of curiosity, any reason why you don’t have a Rickenbacker in your guitar collection? I love that Gretsch, though, as I own an old 6120 myself.

There's a pretty serious price difference between a Gretsch and a Rickenbacker.

Hey JJ you like doing lessons and covers on old songs so maybe you know what this song is. Was watching the Cleveland Show the other day and they played this old rock riff and I can't remember what it is and it's driving me crazy. Here's a link to the video on here, the riff is between :34-:49 seconds. kzbin.info/www/bejne/mafcaqptjpamo9U

Sounds a bit like the intro to Ah Leah, but I think it’s just generic soundtrack music.

@@jamesjames9275 THAT'S IT!!!!! THANK YOU. Man that was driving me crazy I must have played that sound bit 100 times trying to figure it out...lol. Again Thanks keep the videos coming they're great! It's korny song but that opening riff is pretty cool, it's by Donnie Iris who was part of Wild Cherry.
