The biggest take away for me is the wingers for United Rashford and garnacho do not track back but the biggest headache is it feels everytime they attack it’s an obvious cut in and shoot situation Amad isn’t that winger, he’s happy to track back and help defend but the main take away is he just keeps driving forward and that makes a huge difference for teams, the pen and the winning goal isn’t only from his talent but from his pure drive to just keep going The best players have amnesia Doesn’t matter how often they get tackled or things don’t work out they just keep going and that’s exactly what he did He’s a tremendous player and also a huge shoutout to ugarte and mainoo in that midfield Absolute underrated at times during this game but kept the ball ticking over, very happy chap over this win, also great vid James :)

They have both been coached for the past two years to cut inside and shoot and shoot any time they think they have a chance. I think, given his age, that there IS capacity for Garnacho to "unlearn" and become a different type of player. I don't think Marcus even fancies the change of role and would probably be happier at a club where his strengths are played to, and in a league where half the games they play every year are against teams that would struggle in the English Championship. (Edited to tidy up and make more sense...)

I found the commentary very weird today, United were the better team in general. They looked organised out of possession, their build up was generally good and really the only thing they were missing for 85 minutes was a bit of quality in the final third. City only ever really looked threatening off set-pieces. It's the first time I've watched a full United game since Amorim has been in charge, and it's clear that they went out there with a plan today. That couldn't usually be said under Ten Haag.

Amad couldn't make that run earlier because Hojlund was clogging up the central zones not making any useful runs and wrestling defenders. Didn't even make decoy runs. I also think the reason the space wasn't exploited earlier is Amorim is spending more time teaching the players how to play and not enough time exploiting individual teams. He only did so in game and in the second half, I think this is what we'd see more often until the squad is ready.
@Eldriitch
@Eldriitch 20 сағат бұрын
He has to teach the players and learn from them at the same time. It's a mutual thing. The squad has to learn his system and he has to learn how they fit into that system. That means a lot of experimentation. Had he come in earlier, that would have happened in the preseason friendlies. But as it is, it has to happen in the league. Of course, at the same time, he has to consider results and try and earn united some more places up the table, so he's being a bit safe in the first halves of matches and seeing what happens and then adapting things once they come in for half time. He gets them playing safe sensible football in line with his system, so they learn to manage all the various problems they might have, and then he's pushing the weaknesses he identifies afterwards. It's a very creditable approach, and one that is clearly working quite well so far, despite the fundamental awkwardness of Amorim's situation coming into the side.

You know, I really think the formation leaks wasnt coincidence. It was intentional all along. Pep went all out that night and forgot to put someone who could actually defend. Because we had both Maguire and De Ligt at the same time, they thought we were going to defend completely. We did, and it was a boring game, but we have Amad Diallo in his potential position to play. After all, Pep's time is really over at City. He had to save his last formula for England (I hope). Respect to the greatest coach of all time

You can't blame Nunez for the last goal, because he also had to track Antony in the wide side. The main fault was Pep's formation, because he was too confident to play only 1 CB. Givradol played as a CDM. This is very risky.
@jansobieski3127
@jansobieski3127 10 сағат бұрын
But for sure you can blame him for the first one, I don't even know why he's on the right side of the field when he was supposed to play left, where is Walker ? And at the start of this action it was a City's corner, City was on the attack and they kept playing backward again and again until that Nunes double mistake. 80 min with 10 min to left if you want to defend and are unable to attack put 1 defender on the pitch, Stones was on the bench. Pep didn't react.
@nguyenquangtan3320
@nguyenquangtan3320 10 сағат бұрын
@@jansobieski3127 I'm agree about his first fault, but I just want to emphasize on that the way Pep formatted in the game was very terrible. Teams cannot play only 1 CB, and other CB press like a CDM. If he want to play like that, the LB should be a LB or at least of left-footed CB, instead of a CM. From Amorim's post-match interview, you can see that he didn't think about a chance to overtun Arsenal, but he saw it in the MC match, because Arsenal played 2 CB in the line. Another example, Sloth's Liverpool is playing at least 2 CB, and Arnold play as pressing CDM. Never seen, 1 CB press too high.

@@nguyenquangtan3320 this is why I m saying why you keep Stones on the bench, at the 80th min you can feel that City is not going to score a 2nd goal and even if United are bad they re pushing more and more, make a change, bring back Stones on the field and play with 4 real defenders, change Foden for Stones. Guardiola didn't do that, he's just watching things and he's not acting, I don't know what he's doing, probably praying and excpecting United to be that bad and the score to stay at 1-0, but nope, Nunes fu***ed up the game. I m really asking myself about Guardiola, now he's more a spectator rather than a coach being able to make changes and adapt to the flow of the game.

@@jansobieski3127 he prepared letting Stones step into the pitch, right before the penalty. You can saw that. Actually, I've just rechecked his choices from bench, like what ETH facing last season, only kids fullfil the bench.

Before the penalty, with how city was playing, I called a bozo moment to happen in the last few minutes. With the Man City of old, that would never happen, but they’re so bereft of confidence that Pep needs to adapt their game late in games and just drop them back a few metres to see games out.

City have had this flaw for the past few games. Just look at the last few games with how the likes of Juve switch the ball across to get at Lewis who was previously playing the inverted fullback during that defensive transition. Seeing the United line up it did look too defensive imo (even though I back Amorim's decision to drop the wingers who haven't shown the form, mentality and energy Amorim - and previous managers - will want from their team). City without Rodri just look vulnerable, there's no swiftness with their attacking transitions and without him there to break up plays & read danger, they're too often. Aging defence playing high up to try to compress the space between the midfield & defence. Pep shouldn't be sacked as he's proven his pedigree and ability to fix issues over time, but his team is currently broken with how it transitions, there's just no real fail safe with Walker no longer having the raw pace, Rodri, etc. A big shakeup is needed with City

City has become predictable, 8 players on the middle and 2 inversed wingers makes it almost like an handball attack going from one side to the other with the ball. No overlaps from the fullbacks, the wingers always 1vs1 but because the are inverted they cant go the line. A lot has to change, this team is the total opposite from a Peps team.

Good day, Mr. Allcott. I’m calling you out again, mate. I’m not sure if you realize this, but you genuinely have no idea what you’re talking about. It feels like you’re just winging it when attempting to explain the strategies of both teams. You narrate the supposed thoughts of each player during key moments of a game, but it’s painfully obvious you haven’t properly thought through what you’re trying to say. Your preparation is lacking, and your understanding of football, as well as the individual personalities of the players, leaves much to be desired. You often label certain plays as “genius” when they are anything but. Before throwing around words like "opinion" and "genius," you might want to actually grasp their meaning. You have a habit of making things up that aren’t there, and your poor preparation only amplifies this. Your knowledge and understanding of football are, quite frankly, very poor. The only reason some viewers don’t notice this is that they themselves lack a solid understanding of the game. To them, you might come across as some kind of football guru. You have a likable demeanor, I’ll give you that, but anyone paying closer attention will notice how easily flustered you get when trying to explain something that doesn’t make sense to you. Your tendency to repeat the same words or phrases multiple times is a glaring sign of someone who hasn’t prepared or thought through their analysis. Your lack of effort in providing accurate, insightful analysis is why you’re terrible at being a football analyst and yet, you seem to genuinely believe you are really good at it . . which is understandable considering the Premier League has given you work. Unfortunately, they, too, haven’t realised that you have no clue what you’re talking about.
