It's an old team that's lost its legs and their recruitment and roster management in the last few years has been really poor. Doku is a miss, as well Nunes, Grealish, Phillips, Savinho, Gundogan's return, and Torres. I'd probably even throw Kovacic in there despite some good moments. Alvarez did pretty well and was then sold without a replacement. And they sold Cole Palmer too. Gvardiol has been really good overall and Akanji above average but they're not enough to dig them out of this. They've been carried by the players bought pre 2020, those players are getting old and slow and the various additions over the years except Haaland have been under par, and even he is starting to show some limitations.

Looking for a pen is fine if the player is fouled but diving, faking head, facial injuries are over the line. Walker's is a perfect example for VAR to intercede and they did nothing. They did nothing because it was City and it was a City vs United match and the officials didn't want to be seen to have a thumb on the scales. I think clear fakers should be penalized post match with a one game red card ban.
