Leeds fan here - Rutter is up there with Raphinia for me as my favourite Leeds players to have watched. Obviously, not as good as Raph but just the fact that he could lose the ball 20 times in a match and still be player of the match made him even more special. I live in Brighton and he is the reason I'm gonna pop by the Amex this season.

It's not really been a big spending window again this year. The actual fees seem to have finally settled down a bit. I think that's more down to clubs refusing to sell unless they get stupid money, so they end up not selling.

@willk1063Ай бұрын
From what I’ve read / heard Toney is a difficult character in the dressing room and to work with. Combine that with Brentford’s stupid initial valuation and then them getting desperate to offload him and you can see why the prem teams who could afford him gave it a miss.
@hamo6608Ай бұрын
ugarte will absolutely be season defining for us, everything that they were talking about with the gap in behind the midfield leaving the defence exposed is aided by ugarte, his ability to cover ground and block passes is what seperates him from casemiro who honestly still has great defensive numbers, you only see this difference between him and casemiro in his interceptions per 90 and through the eye test so its a bit hard for some to understand the wider impact of it but his sheer athleticism is going to reduce the gap between the midfield and the defence significantly by blocking off passing lanes casemiro cant get to. Additionally his high ball recoveries fit exactly how ten hag wants to play and like and like Joe was saying about his poor progressive passing numbers, united have so many other ways that they look to progress the ball via inverting fullbacks, progressive centre backs and mainoo whos great at retaining and progressing the ball. Ugarte doesn't need to be able to progress the ball super well again as Joe said he just needs to be able to retain it which he had good numbers at psg for and at united sometimes we need that sideways pass during build up. Honestly when i really think about it it feels like ugarte fits us perfectly just like casemiro did in his first year before he lost his legs.

De Ligt incredibly overrated here I'm afraid - incapable of defending out wide and just as slow as Maguire on the turn, decent CCB but is that what Utd really needed? Chalobah and Todibo were also on the market and Yoro is a much bigger talent for the future. Ugarte also just reeks of desperation in the final days of the window - Mendes offloading another average player to the most stupid/desperate club. Best signings this summer were comfortably Onana and Olise imo - only players that instantly become one of the best players at their new clubs.
@SteveAustin-zv1nnАй бұрын
We don't need a CB that defends out wide. And no, not as slow as Maguire at all. Nobody is. Ugarte wasn't desperation at all. We were after him for a month but PSG wanted too much money so we refused. On the last day of the season PSG offfered him for the money we wanted to pay so we accepted. A wildly uninformed comment.
@gershomtan5879Ай бұрын
Well he just played a blinder of a match. Looks like the perfect partner for Martinez.

@@SteveAustin-zv1nn Utd didn't want to pay what price PSG were demanding until the final days of the transfer window - where Utd payed what PSG were asking for lol. He was absolutely horrific for PSG last season they were desperate to offload and still managed to recoup the entire fee they paid including add ons. Only Utd could be this generous lol. What do you mean you don't need a defender who can cover the wide-channels have you watched Utd under Ten Hag? - he's gonna get caught in 1 v 1 so often. Like I said De Ligt is a decent CCB but he has pretty glaring weaknesses and so there were absolutely better options available and calling him one of the signings of the season sounds like delusion to me.

@@gershomtan5879 Southampton are the worst team in the league and Martin is comfortably the worst coach - let's calm down but it was an overall decent performance from De Ligt. No way is he signing of the season material imo.
