Man I love Jimbo and have Spurs solidarity with Flav, but it sure is rich hearing these guys stick it to those dang millionaire players, by parroting and shadowing billionaire owner talking points. Sure players are paid millions to kick a ball (ask the players with CTE from playing football how rosy that is), but the billionaires can sit and smash their toys together as much as they want and put a World Cup on three different continents to have the players travel. Just telling players to sit and ignoring the pressures in a team to keep your place and not get dropped, let alone having the fans and media shit themselves and grill a manager anytime a star is rested for a week currently. You guys need to think critically about who’s side your standing on in this argument, the employees or management, and if I ever find I’m siding with management then I need to stop being a scab and get my head screwed on straight

Flav's an utter moron. The game's faster and more intense than ever, the best players play more games than ever - and they're adding more games to the calendar too. There are only so many games footballers can play before the quality of their performances suffer. The last euros was the worst tournament I can remember, because the players were knackered. Even Spain's winning team was mostly made up of players whose clubs didn't play loads of games last season. Only carvajal and rodri had intense club seasons, off the top of my head. What footballers get paid is completely irrelevant to what the human body can do. Lower league teams don't have european football, most of their players won't play international football and the football they play is less intense on and off the pitch. This really isn't complicated stuff to grasp... unless your name's flav.

Flav is forgetting the bit in the "too many games" conversation where more rotation effectively means the fans who pay their hard earned money to go to these games won't get to see as much of the best players playing for their team. This has been a huge issue in the NBA in recent years where fans are upset they're paying ever increasing ticket prices during an 82 game season just for their favorite players to be on the bench saving themselves for the playoffs. We definitely don't need more games.

I think blaming the managers is too convenient, and what fifa/uefa wants us to do. Pep, arteta, whoever is under constant pressure (believe it or not) from their clubs owners to win games and competitions. That's literally their job. That's why *they* are paid. They have to put out their best team to win games because the margins are so tight and the ramifications for losing are so high. If Pep rested rodri every 3 games in the treble winning season, do they win the treble?
@craigjohnson9605

@@LongoHighlightsif the answer to your last question is no, then managers have no right to complain about amount of games. If they’re so confident about their systems and believe that they are so good tactically etc then they should have no problem swapping rodri out for another £50m midfielder. I agree whole heartedly with Rodri when he says he plays too many games, and am convinced it’s why he’s having injury issues atm. But that’s his managers fault, no one else.

The more games you add the less valuable each game becomes, thus the need to win them becomes lesser. Eventually leading to worse games overall, because "Well we need to bench all our best players for this, and when we do play our best players, we'll play safe and boring". All the people that want 'Barclays Men' back, and not getting it with more games. We're heading to the NBA model, where the regular season means very little and the play-offs are all anyone is waiting for. As someone whose studied sports science, the "WeLl ThEy EaRn So MucH" argument infuriates me. We are heading to the Super League with that mentality. All this will do is make the stuff you're paying for, the thing you enjoy following/watching, categorically worse.

I think the argument is more to do with more games = less quality. Whereas if players have less games and more time to rest then the quality of matches will be at a higher standard. Also comparing League 1 games to Prem level is apple to oranges. The intensity is completely different which should go without saying so 1 game in the Prem is not equal to 1 game in League one

@@mellowfellow4956 having greater capability in something does not necessarily mean someone has worked harder. Everyone isn't born with an equal potential for everything. It would not be surprising to find league one players who play to the absolute best of their ability and maximise their training, yet still are not capable of performing at a premier league level. Effort isn't the only factor when it comes to elite performance. Genetics, mental aptitude, health history all play a role and can be the difference regarding the level of performance someone is capable of achieving, along with effort.

@mellowfellow4956 17 сағат бұрын
@@aidan2453 not sure what that has to do with my comment. The basic point is saying a league one team has played a bunch of games is not the same as playing even half the amount of games at Prem level. Its just completely different in terms of effort, intensity, ability etc... pretty much every factor you can think of. It is often talked about how when a team is promoted to the Prem that they have even less time on the ball than in the championship and your mistakes will get brutally capitalized on. So ultimately you can't just do a 1 to 1 comparison

The ‘too many games’ is a weird one. I can’t just get out of my head that there’s millions of people who would want Rodri’s position, for a fraction of the money he earns. Does the fact he has a better life than 99% of people mean he can’t complain? It’s really one I’m struggling to make up my mind on. The increase in games also means the “need” for the top teams to hoard the talent around them. Many talented -but not top- footballers would choose to earn 100k a week, play 15 games a season and get a bunch of medals rather than play regularly for their mid-table side and have the chance to become a local legend or get your team to an Europa League in an exceptional season. Rodri was asked a question and answered with a “maybe”. It wasn’t a yes or no. I don’t think he was trying to put himself at the head of the movement. Also flav does not want a case where the big clubs turn into the the nba’s rotation problem. As much as other clubs want the big teams to not have the best players every game the fans want to see the best players play the most amount of games that they can. It’s easy to say “just rotate the players more” But fans go to games to see the top players. You’re talking about young kids at the Arsenal games.. they go there wanting to see Saka play. As a United fan, I can definitely see Ten Hag getting the sack, especially if we lose/draw all of the next three games. However, like Flav said with Ange, the team is undeniably playing better than last season but just aren't getting the results. Most of the underlying stats agree with that assertion (barring the finishing stats, which has obviously been a massive problem). Brighton was an unfortunate loss caused by stupid individual mistakes, Liverpool were simply better and more clinical but the game came down to 3 individual mistakes, and we dominated Palace for 70 minutes but couldn't score a damn goal. The game against Twente was a disgrace from everybody, and if the football continues like that, then he'll be gone by Christmas. If the team can continue to play like they did against Palace, then I'm confident that we'll be fine for 5th+ and a good cup run or two.

I understand the point flav is making about changing and making new competitions for money being negative but to hear a spurs fan dismiss the club World Cup as a trophy was such a cringe moment. Especially since before this new edition of the cwc you had to win ucl to even get a chance to compete.

When i was in my 20s i worked on a building site 50 hours a week very hard lift all week and always on my feet i went for a 3 mile run every week day morning before work and played a match Saturday and played a match on sunday then the whole process started over again the next week i felt great and strong all the time.... Not sure how playing two games a week and being proper pampered in between and getting rest when needed is causing injuries? I was never injured !! Injuries are part of football they will happen if we played 10 games a season its just either unlucky or down to the individual

I can just imagine Jim sat downstairs late at night and the Mrs says ' hey its late are you coming to bed' in which he replies ; ' ya in about 40 minutes im just watching ten minutes of football at .25 speed ' 😂 After the 40 minutes are up Jim listens precariously, then carefully and swiftly drives to Fleetwood services for a cheeky nosh. After an explicit and sensual encounter that only us slugs will ever know, he makes his way back hastily. Slowly and quietly he rolls into bed, but by accident wakes up his wife who asks why he is up so late. To which Jim replies 'slugs will be slugs'.

In answer to Flav's question about 'Who have Chelsea played?' Man City (weren't expected to win), then 4 teams with a total of 2 wins between them. Wolves (0 wins), Palace (0 wins), Bournemouth (1 win) & West Ham (1 win). Bournemouths win was against Everton & West Ham's against Palace. Not getting all this hype about Chelsea yet, win against Brighton & Forest (both undeafeated) in their next two games and then, maybe, start to take notice of them.

Regarding the "too many games" conversation. I agree with Flav that it's on the managers to rotate the squad and carefully introduce youth team players. The bigger clubs can all afford 2 players per position so you could easily give 30+ starts to each player should you make it to the final of every competition. Also one thing that might get missed is that although you can (and in my opinion should) utilise the full squad more effectively, there's no break or rotation available for the manager. We've already seen Klopp suffer from burnout, I wonder if managers will start to have a shorter stint at top clubs. Would this lead to a delegation to the assistant manager for certain games so the head coach can take time off? Who knows? That might be a good way to develop coaches, the same way some teams have a cup goalkeeper you could end up with cup coaches. Whatever happens, we can only move forward.

Regarding the overplaying of the players, I think this issue is bigger than just player fatigue. Like ultimately, with sports science where it's at these top players will only be pushed to play more to a certain extent, like the top clubs aren't going to overplay these players to their detriment. Surely that just means we'll end up with these clubs needing huge squads to play the number of matches, just making the gap between the bigger and smaller clubs even larger.

Completely with Flav on fixture congestion.. If your players are tired, rotate your squad. You've got lads getting paid £100-200k a week to play 15 mins here and there. Use them.

Why do people think that COIVD devalues Liverpool's league win? They were twenty-plus points clear when the shutdown began and had the league won within two matches of the restart. The season that gets the asterisk for being affected by COVID was 20/21; City get that asterisk.

"Bronson" and "The Take"... Tom Hardy's finest performances and wayyyyy better than anything he's done since breaking into the Hollywood vibes. Those two titles alone, though, are untouchable.

Tom Hardy has had a few great performances. The dude is an Oscar nominated actor. My personal favourite performance of his is in a lesser known movie called Locke. There are no other on screen actors in the film. Just voice acting over various phone calls that he recieves throughout the duration of his journey. The film is Tom Hardy talking on the phone with various people for an hour and a half. And he left me riveted the entire time. He is also good in films like the revenant and Bronson as well. If you dont think Tom Hardy has any great performances go and watch Locke and tell me you disagree

You can tell james doesn't like the "Hancock's hot takes" segment and is waiting to replace it with other more diverse (e.g. lasagne/poo chat level) topics... Also the fact that flav interacts more to Handcock is a growing visible wedge between the protagonists of Jaffn ... My vote for what its worth; Handsy Hancock is here to stay.

As a United fan.*As a United fan*. It does feel like we're the only club where other clubs want our managers sacked when we're underperforming. I've never sat here and gone "I tell you what, Chelsea need to get rid of Frank" or "Spurs definitely need to sack Conte". For the most part, specifically fans from Manchester, are always behind the manager while they're here. Only exception I think is the booing of Solskjaer, which to this day I'm fkn ashamed of. Wish we never got rid of him to be honest

How many times have we seen players and gone “they had so much potential but they were ruined by injury”. imagine how much longevity players like R9 would’ve had if they’d not been run totally into the ground in their early years, that’s my main issue with the number of games. I do agree that footballers are paid far too much and it is a bit tone deaf for multi-millionaire athletes to moan about doing millions of people’s dream job. Like Flav said, if players need to be rested, rest them. FIFA, UEFA and the domestic leagues aren’t telling teams that they have to play X player every week, it’s the manager’s decision at the end of the day.

Teams have the ability to build 25 man squads in the prem, the managers responsibility is to manage the minutes, top players will always want to play. Manager should work with medical team to monitor and manage all their players fitness and mental fatigue. Rugby have brought out a 30 game match limit across the season (including internationals), do you think this, or a minutes limit will ever come in, or is a good idea. In large businesses all over the world, tasks have to be passed on from the person most qualified to do it down the chain because they dont have time to do every task, why shouldnt footballers minutes be any different.

Completely back flav here. Duty of care is from the manager and medical departments. More rotation more chances for youth players, more chances for lower league teams to progress in the league and f.a. cups. Its just the big clubs angling to drop the cups, then the premier league, and join their super leagues.

Big clubs should rotate more, but didn’t the EFL Cup bring in the rule that you have to have at least 4-5 first team members or something like that because Arsenal under Wenger would just full send the youth team and people got upset they had to pay to see Arsenal u21s? There shouldn’t be those restrictions if we expect clubs to rotate and play their youth in the lesser tournaments. Equally, clubs need to charge less money

Tbf no one is forcing them to try in the smaller cups. If pep doesn’t like it he can field a youth team and probably lose 4-1 but then they wouldn’t have to worry about that cup. If he only wants his first team playing in the prem and CL then he can only field them in those games

Nobody cares about the club world cup / Nations league and games like that. Teams should make a point and just play reserves, gives them more development. Plus if people don't watch it because it's full of reserves the compatition would be axed straight away because it's not making as much money as they want.
