I saw Steve Hackett around 10 years ago when he was doing a totally acoustic show. I even got my picture with him. He was easily one of the most down-to-earth, unpretentious guys I've ever met. And humble, too. The truly great artists don't have to rely on flash or "atmosphere." I was truly impressed, inspired, and challenged to revisit my own music-craft with a more simple joy. Thanks, Steve!

Saw his acoustic show at the Cambridge Corn Exchange in 1988 I think it was. The next day's show was classical guitarist John Williams. Or it was the other way around. Who cares? Both excellent!

After 50 years I finally realized what “I Talk To The Wind” is about. The Wind being a euphemism for an air-headed person. Aha! Clever…

I want to say that 'that' is how I went about it too; first purchasing the CD's. Tho I can't recollect what year..maybe 2000? The CD's had been out awhile. A lovely package_design with the release. The VHS Live footage I probably..got in 2002? Acquired online, amongst mp3 swappers post_Napster days. Tho it might've been earlier. But like the CD's a very tight professionally produced release. Done as right as it could've been.

I just clicked to the time you mentioned; the 24:02...and let it play thru to Los Endos. And just noticed for the first time around 24:58 they play a few bars of 'Dancing With the Moonlit Night'. It dances in and out so quick, I wonder if any one seeing it live noticed? It's there tho. Played spot on.

Tho time marches on, I'm an insider fan of Chester. I think his live stuff thru out his professional career is fantastic. He amongst his peers is highly regarded (chek the Drummers of Frank Zappa DVD). Weather Report, George Duke trio (1975), Fire Merchants (Goodsall 1987). Strong strong player. With this vid, pt 2..somewhere around 35:00..drum solo. One of these days I have to get my hands on 'A joyful noise'. his CD

Check out Ian McDonald's cd DRIVERS EYES. He sings lead on 3 or 4 tunes. He also enlists the help of lead singers: Lou Gramm, John Waite, John Wetton, Gary Brooker, and Ian Lloyd. Very good cd. Several terrific songs.

A question for the connoisseurs: Is this Ian Mcdonnald the one who wrote "Revolution in the head" ( a book a bout thte Beatles)?
@radoslavkasparec934510 жыл бұрын
This one is Ian McDonald, the one you mentioned is Ian MacDonald, so one more "a" in his name.
@jamesnich9910 жыл бұрын
Radoslav is correct. 'this' Ian McDonald (in the vid above) is Crimson, Foreigner etc. A very good query tho Oswaldo, if you will allow me. I know (vaguely) what you are referring to. The Ian associated with the Beatles, around and during the recording of the white album.
