I'm 21 and I grew up adoring this movie! I'm not a boy, and I don't play baseball, but I found myself deeply relating with the kids and loving the story. Every scene is memorable, and the lessons and characters still hold up to this day for me.

What a beautiful nostalgia trip disguised in a super-convincing and natural story about boyhood. This just absolutely nails what it's like to grow up as a young, adventurous boy before the time of smartphones. Going outside, playing backyard sports, riding bikes, swimming at the pool, attending a local carnival, playing in a treehouse - it simply romanticizes childhood, which is why this film is timeless.

@PJ No, I had to rewatch the ending just to get this right. The chunky read head kid (Hamilton) who you're talking about became a professional wrestler called "The Great Hambino". The tall kid with the glasses (Bertram) "Really got into the 60's and no one ever saw him again".

@PJ Ah, well at least were both in the same boat of misunderstanding 😆.

Bertram got really into the '60s, and no one ever saw him again. That was my favorite part about the epilogue

My VHS copy of this was one of my most prized possessions as a kid, watched it no telling how many times(I had the really big box version). I haven’t watched it in probably 15 years at this point. I’m going to try to find it and watch again. Thank you for bringing back some great memories, almost tear up thinking about it.

This is your big chance, and you should never let it go by... Remember, kid, there's heroes and there's legends; heroes get remembered, but legends never die. Follow your heart, kid, and you'll never go wrong.

One of the kids had a bad ending didn't he? I remember he was into the sixties movement or something and that he disappeared and no one heard from him ever again.
