I saw this at the theaters in 1968. I had no idea of the ending and it sent chills down my back. I also hadn't realized the double meaning there was. Having Roddy as one of the main characters was icing on the cake.

It's ironic within the context of the dialogue being presented how today everything is spoiled, while in the past they never thought of doing something so obvious. The video he is holding, which is in itself rather old, is doing exactly what he was saying didn't happen in the past. When the outcome is contrary to the expectation, that is irony. He also is using sarcasm and satire, just in case you missed those as well.

At the start of the movie, it already foreshadows the ending. Taylor spoke about how the people listening to him on Earth must be a new breed by then, hopefully a better one. And the one that heard what he said could be Dr. Zaius himself. Thus he wrote those scrolls.

Later on, I bet my friend who was in my history class that everyone knows it because the image of it is everywhere. I asked a bunch of my classmates and what happens? I just kinda assumed he never stopped to try and figure out what planet he was on because he was busy being attacked by the apes and all. Trying not to die can be a pretty time consuming thing.

Well done, I love this Vid's ending too, (won't spoil it though, you got to see it). Very fun revisit to a classic, thanks.

Love this series of movie reviwes James, it has the freshness of the early AVGN when you talked about the games from your childhood, and not just bad games. Keep it on.

Does James really think his audience wouldn't know the ending of Planet of the Apes? P.S. "Spaceballs" "Shit there goes the entire planet"
