Sometimes, bigger isn't always better. James Rolfe and Mike Matei look in the board game closet and find one of the largest board games on the market: Battle Masters. Created by Milton Bradley, this strategic war game is one large behemoth. However, is this game simply too much for the two guys to handle? Well, there's only one way to know; by watching the video. Warning: couch moving and confusing rule explaining are all included in the package. Buckle your seatbelts.

If I had this game I'd have a third player referred to as the Battlemaster who looks at the rule book and helps the players out. Because with a game this complicated, both players are likely going to need help.

This game is actually REALLY FUN and FAR LESS COMPLICATED than James makes it out to be. Learning the rules and set-up does take some time, but it's worth it. Once the game gets started, it rolls along quickly and is full of great strategy, even for beginners of the game! My 9 year old nephew played it and absolutely loved it!

I wonder if this episode ties in with the Board James story. If it does, then the board games they use to see how many of them fit in the "Battle Masters" board are really interesting. Think about it: Sorry!(sorry that he killed his friends or at least thinks he does?), Clue (speaks for itself), Guess Who?(who is the murderer?), Game of Life and so on. Maybe far fetched, maybe not .
@AlluMan96

+TerrionGaming Unfortunately, this episode pre-dates narrative Board James and Dream phone, so while the idea is solid, it is more likely a coincidence than not. I don't know how long Board James has been planned to go the direction it did, so it might also be a clever sense of foreshadowing in that case.

Just as Warhammer was born from Tolkien. All things draw inspiration from existing things to some extent; even a caveman couldn't paint something he couldn't imagine. Admittedly, there is some difference in how much content is carried over, and how much it changes (if at all).

I got this game as a Christmas gift when I was a kid. I spent more time putting the thing together and applying all the stickers to the shields/flags/bases than I actually did playing it. I played one game with my dad once I got it all together, which was kind of fun. Then once at a sleepover I played it with 3 other friends but we never finished because it turned into a big fist fight once we figured out the other two kids had marked the Mighty Cannon cards and were cheating.

I got this game as a kid and enjoyed playing it, even if we forgot most of the terrain rules throughout each game. Otherwise the game was pretty simple to learn. That plastic castle was the biggest pain to put together! And you had to disassemble it each time to get it back in the box. I do remember one thing that I thought was going to be brought up. On the back of the box, everything is shown painted up nice. Then you open the box up to find all single color models. And everything was on sprue sheets so you had to slowly cut or twist TONs of plastic pieces out and assemble everything. I think I spent the day after Christmas just doing that.

Imagine getting this game when you were a kid. You see at it a store and beg your mom for it because it looks cool, she says "All right, but it counts as your birthday present". Heh, great game. I remember playing this game as a kid. Basically it worked like this. There was a big ass table in my friends basement we normally used for Battletech, and we'd play, take breaks come back and play more. It was a multiday affair.

With all the pieces that game has, it probably costs more than a Warhammer 40K rulebook and a decent set of miniatures would.
