It’s kinda funny too, because I and many others were introduced to him through the persona of the Nerd, so while we associate his face with a rage-filled gamer in his game room, being cartoonishly angry at games and swearing profusely. Turns out in real life he’s just a really cool dude.

I'm with James, why do so many Hollywood films seem to hate cats, to the point that they act like no one has them as beloved pets? Alien is like the only horror movie I can think of where not only does the cat survive, Ripely actually went out of her way to save him like the dad went back in the house of Amityville Horror to save the dog.

I met a woman who was a teacher in my middle school who said she was there when they came up with the idea for the blob. For shooting certain lighting effects the crew would shine a spotlight through gelatin. She was on a movie set one day and some of the gel spilled onto the ground and it moved across the floor in such a way that it slid over and moved around objects like papers and books and rejoined with itself on the other side. Effects artists and producers saw this and thought it would be cool if there was a formless monster that could move like that.

When I was four or five years old I found the 1988 version my father freshly recorded off the satellite. The movie was so damn intense I had to take breaks watching it. Afterwards I never wanted to go near Phone Booths or Garbage Disposals.

Stranger Things season 3 was clearly inspired by The Blob, with it's blob-like central villain. There's even a scene where the creature is in its blob form and squeezes through some vents.

Kind of sad that The Blob remake isn’t as talked about as much as the other 80s horror remakes. I feel like the practical effects are on par with both The Fly and The Thing remakes, the new backstory for the monster is actually interesting and sort of creepy, and it has the balls to not only kill off a kid, but show it front and center to give you the stakes of the film.

The 50s one is decent but I think the 80s one is far better. The 80s remake is legit scary, the 50s one just come off as kind of silly.

I personally prefer the 80s version. I just remember I was like 10 or 11, went into the local video rental store, recognizing the title and rented The Blob (I didn't see the original until about a year later). At the time it was the bloodiest movie I had ever seen. Still love it, also Kevin Dillon is fantastic. Love, Love, Love the remake!!

I always liked the concept that the blob is like a waste disposal system for a super advanced alien race that they just throw into space when they're done with it like the alien in Terrorvision.

The original Blob was a fun horror movie with a great concept. I prefer the remake however as it turned the horror and comedy up to 11 and in my opinion, had more relatable characters. The "ribbed" joke never fails to entertain.

Both films are classics and each have made an immense amount of impact on the science fiction and horror genres. If nothing else, you must at least admit the historical value of the 1951 Thing. It did so much to jumpstart the sci-fi genre in film.

Alright, if we're gonna talk about classic 50s Sci-fi Horror, Attack of the 50 foot woman has the best poster of them all.....the movie itself is absolute garbage....the 90s remake slightly better garbage....then came Attack of the 60 foot Centerfold. Someone needs to remake Attack of the 50 foot woman as like legit sci-fi horror.
