Great video Jim. Years ago a had an account with several hundred water source heat pumps. Inevitably one of the coaxial condensers would spring a leak and water would get into the system. I had an old timer show me how a cold trap before the vacumn would not only save the oil but speed up the pull down. He used an old r-22 can with another tap brazed on. I used an old recovery bottle placed in ice. Thanks again for all the videos, I look forward to them.

Nice job Jim, patience & optimism makes an old and fired tested system run once again...When I saw water running out of the liquid line in part one I thought no way will this system live to cool again!
@JamesPettinato9 жыл бұрын
+Rich Rada I had a customer who shut his water cooled ice machine for the winter and he didn't drain the condenser, it froze up and split, the gas leaked out and in the spring he turned the water on and it filled the refrigerant lines and the compressor, when I drained the oil out of the compressor , it looked like a gray milk shake. Three oil changes, gas changes, drier changes and vacuums, it worked. thanks

Hi Jim my name is Al Santini from Puerto Rico and I really enjoy your videos, As a matter of fact some of them I had show them to my young helpers, thank you for your knowlege and way of showing how refrigeration relly works. By the way on the video that you record it on JJ's Greenhouse wich was an installation of a slow fan and Hi humidity by mid recording you mention a call you recived by a bussines owner from N.Y. in regard to a Ice Machine that after the first day was not working. I appreciate very much that coment on Grainger and the Cheap Chinese because unfortunate here in my Island do to the competition in between the supply house they forgot about us and they are salling there products to any one that walk in to the stores. So our profession is in bad shape. you know the rest. We got to do something in that matter. Poeple and Bussines owener are bieng Cheap. Keep up the good work and thank you for sharing you professionalism. Thanks

Nice job Jim, way to go on the long vacuum pull down, I used to follow a "hack" a few years ago who never used a micron gauge, he would just pull a vacuum for 30 mins and call it good. lol needless to say we had to go fix it and the customer would be so pissed to have to spend more the second time to fix it again. Never pays to be a cheapskate like you said. thanks for posting.

+Максим Давыдов look up "pole shift", the north pole is moving towards Russia at 40 miles per year, someone said it's effecting the jet streams
@Maxim_Davidov9 жыл бұрын
We know about the changing positions of the poles of the planet. This fact disturbs us very little. We have many political and social problems. Our country is run by bandits. Our country may be destroyed prior to the moment when a change of poles will pose a threat to human security.

nice video Jim! I have the same vacuum pump. I called JB in the past and asked about the oil level in the vacuum pump. they told me the level should be between the lines in the sight glass WHILE ITS RUNNING. they don't care what the level is when the vacuum pump is off. so usually on this pump when its off the oil level is near the bottom of the sight glass. Also when my oil is up above the line I noticed in my experience it wouldn't pull a deep vacuum. But while its running I drained down the oil to the correct level and my microns started to drop lower. This is what made me start to wonder what is the proper level. Is it when the pump is on or off. So I called JB. just something I thought ill mention

I've been serving a Chinese buffef for a few years. They have been good customers and good to pay. Like you said, they like to tinker with equipment. The stuff belongs to them, so, have at it. Now they are wanting to get me to lower my prices on each job. Over the years, I have given them free service calls and even even did free checks for them to show appreciation for past business. I have rarely charged them for all my time on each job. Now they want me to cut my prices. If I let them keep negotiating me down, I'll be paying them to do their work(lol). I can't work any cheaper. I may lose this customer before its over.

+ritewayguy a few years back I was servicing most of the chinese restaurants around here, all of a sudden, no calls, found out some chinese guy with an old station wagon and a big mouth showed up and they all ran to him, good, thanks

Hey Jim after watching most of your videos it seems one of your best traits is how calm you are under so much pressure. I work in this field too, mainly A/C, I and co workers get very frustrated at times. Do you stay away from caffeine? How do you stay so calm under pressure?Thanks Jim
@JamesPettinato9 жыл бұрын
I drink two large mugs of strong coffee every morning. how do I stay calm, I've run into most every problem many times and have confidence I'll find that light at the end of the tunnel, thanks

Do you use the Supco oil on air conditioning units?
@JamesPettinato9 жыл бұрын
+Air Mechanical sure, it's a cleaning solution it will clean cap tubes, it's main function is to line all the metal parts and make them extra slippery, so if you have a compressor binding, drawing high amps and running very hot , it will help loosen things up.
@meerscan91019 жыл бұрын
correct me if im wrong, isn't 67.4 psig @ 44:16 a temp of 26.2 degrees f on PT chart for r407f?
@JamesPettinato9 жыл бұрын
+refrigeration tech I opened the valve to get a lower TD for humidity, this increases the flow of refrigerant back to the compressor thus a higher suction pressure and head pressure, as the temperature drops in the cooler the pressures will also drop, thanks
