Awesome! It's so cool you love old trucks and are taking us along JP. It's so refreshing to see what I think is a "realistic" approach to restoring the MANY you're showing us. I like the fact that you’re saving these seats, rather than just spending cubic dollars on new seats that won’t do any better of a job. Tools…..the age-old discussion of getting what you pay for. The cheap stuff has definitely improved in quality in some respects, not so much in others.

Nice information regarding tools. In general, you still get exactly what you pay for. Yes, there are some exceptions, but not that many. I remember back in the early 80's when I started doing some basic car maintenance. There was a Trak Auto store near me and they sold all sorts of tools and they were a lot less expensive than Craftsman tools. I bought a bunch of those cheap tools and when I tore down an engine that I bought from a junkyard, I found out why those tools were so cheap. I ended up buying a lot of Craftsman tools from the nearest Sears & Roebuck store. I did break a couple of Craftsman sockets when removing the head bolts. I took the broken sockets back to the Sears store and with no questions asked, gave me new sockets. I still have those Craftsman tools. Nice job on the seat rehab project.

Got to admit, my tools are all budget brand , but these days im just a hobbyist , when l was in the motor trade l was a renault mechanic and my tools were mostly from facom with some bits and pieces from britool and stahlwhile. That set up is long gone now and the tools l use now are clarke mostly with stuff from draper and Nielsen. I do have a set of dewalt compound pliers, they're incredible but l got them way cheaper than usual so couldn't refuse them. I always fancied snap on tools back in the day but just literally couldn't afford them, also when l was serving my apprenticeship mac tools were just coming to the U.K., they looked amazing to me too. Recently l like the look of Milwaukee's combination spanners but still too pricey for me unless my fortunes improve lol 😂

O-H-I-O Porter greetings 🇺🇸 Burned Out are words you don’t want to hear. It’s good to have a shop that you can work inside of to get some smaller projects done! Our current weather demands working inside as well. The seats look so much better now! Good time to repair them. TOOLS: my oldest brother always bought Craftsman tools because they were good & reliable. I so got that way as well & would really only buy that brand as much as possible. I still like the brand, but I’m not sure it’s the same as it was back years ago. You sure have to learn what cheap tools to buy & when to splurge on more expensive tools. Bottom line, I want to take care of my tools so that they last as long as possible. Can’t wait to see those seats installed. A few good hours of work! Good stuff my friend. Stay safe & warm. Blessings to you both! 🥰😎✌️

Talking about cold in my half century of trucking I've been so cold at times once at Iowa Beef Packers, ya dropped ya trailer and they load it and ya come back an get it so I had the whole front of that transtar2 cornbinder covered with cardboard bob tailing around Souix City Iowa trying to get enough heat to keep from freezing to death. It was a blizzard wind 30 mph and zero⁰ with a blanket around me also Chicago, Wyoming, ND, Montana good grief see breath in the truck and breath freezing on the windshield inside. 😮
