Am 70 and have kept a personal & garden journal for years. In 2017 we moved into the mountains (zone 3) my garden journal helps on some things now - but my newer one is priceless! Whole new ball game on the mountain :) But, a journal is a wonderful tool for the garden. I also keep track of the weather each day too. Good video kiddo-thanks

Me too.... you can keep doing it. It's easy. Look up how to build a little plastic dome on top of your garden bed with some half-inch PVC pipe. Just keep putting it out early. I actually start fertilizing everything in February. It's horrible. This year I got ripe blueberries in Tennessee by the end of April.... lol. I almost killed some plants by fertilizing way too early and waking everything up. But hey... screw it. Lol Just figure out how to build a dome and double line it with bedsheets or plastic and put things out as early as you want :)

I just started gardening at 58. In between foot surgeries and unable to workout the depression is horrible!!!! Depression and ADHD are a horrible combination and KZbin had me so overloaded with information! Thank you so much for all of your insight and more importantly to slow down. Obsessed is what best describes this gardener, and you have given me some great advice. SO thank you very much💫

You are so right about timing, garden in the Southern hemisphere, we have had 3 years of mild winter's, a frost last weekend reminded that we do get severe frosts. When its a mild winter you can plant the cold harder stuff in August, but a more frosty winter wait until September for our area.

❤️ Tuck KING of the garden ! 👋🏽😁 This is my 2nd year gardening. I live in NY and the weather is very unpredictable this year. Still cold, but at least starting in the 60’s & 70’s some days at noon. Nights are still pretty cold, but now getting in the 40’s & 50’s. Your right patience is important & timing. Even though I am tempted to transplant, I know I have to wait & transition to hardening the tropical plants. 😅 Don’t want all my hard work to be in vain. This year I am planting more varieties vegetables . Already planted potatoes & carrots outside few weeks after last frost. They have germinated and I have sprouts for the carrots, so excited. Going to start hardening off the tomatoes & peppers for a few days starting next week. Thanks for the advice! Very important for us newbie gardeners! 😄😂

❤❤❤❤❤ For the master gardener, Tuck. My poor garden, everything is gowing like weeds. My tomato plants are already waist high, flowering, and setting fruit. The cucumbers, squash, cantaloupe, and peppers are flowering and fruiting too. I just harvested mustard about ten days ago, and now it is ready for a second harvest, and my Swiss chard is ready too. Everything is about a month ahead of schedule. Alabama, 7B. My transplents went into the ground between April 6th, and April 9th.

We have had a lot of rain and temperatures into the high 40’s at night. We are past frost, but I waited to put out my tomatoes. I have to wait until next week for peppers, until night temperatures are consistently above 55 degrees. I haven’t seen such a cool and moist May in a long time. My neighbor’s gardens have been wiped out by slugs. Glad I avoided that. My tomatoes and peppers will make up the time when the sun comes out.

Love the channel and advice. I’d like to see plants actually grown in the ground like most every American garden is. Very few use planter boxes , containers. Farmers grow in the earth as do we. It’s not the same. It’s a much tougher grow environment. My 20 year old garden doesn’t look like KZbin gardens. It looks like dirt with straw mulch 😂

Agreed. I'd like to see more realistic gardening happening. If we have another "issue" like 2020, those cutsey raised beds will only take you so far and you won't be purchasing any expensive soil and fertilizer. I'll take my struggle garden (live on a hill, clay soil and LOTS of rock) any day. I'll be exiting this page and finding just that! 👍🏼
@xHawgRyderx

@@AmysAttitude my issue is what they call soil is not soil. I don’t know what it is tbh. I’ve probably put 50 bales of straw on my garden over the past 10 years that have decomposed, hand tilled in but, at the end of the day my garden is still clay 😂 We end up giving away 75% of what we can’t consume. Happy Gardening!
