I don't actually remember a specific time when I realized I was legally blind either. I know I knew I couldn't see as well as everyone else even in kindergarten, but I don't know when I made the realization. I do know that despite knowing I couldn't see well, I fought reading Braille for a long time. I'm so glad I learned it though. I have depth perception, but not much, and what I have is not reliable. I filled out the form for you. I've never gotten to go to Vidcon, but I've wanted to since it first started. It would be awesome if we both got to go and could do a panel or workshop together.

U were lucky to born in a developed nation. My teachers and parent didn't even acknowledge my blindness, I had to read those small letters.

Thank you James for offering such insight... For me, as a Kindergartenteacher, the way you describe your school experiences really got me thinking. Please keep up the great work!

James, I really appreciate your videos, like so much. I've been legally blind for five years now and I've spoken to people who are completely blind and who have little vision loss, but from what I've gathered in your videos you see a lot like I do. Thank you so much for making these videos, and good luck with VidCon!

Awesome video. I remember as a kid thinking that the other kids had amazing vision. To me it was like everyone else was superhuman and I was just normal. Was hard for me to get my head around even though I know I was vision impaired it still confused me and surprised me what others could sae.

I can't believe you're not on the list for Vidcon yet, that needs to be fixed! I've sent away my suggestion, I hope they get in touch!

Hey there fellow blink here- Hadley school for the blind has a really awesome braille program you can do at home and it's free! By the time you're done you will be able to read and write braille- super easy and you follow along with audio ...

I love your videos they do help those who are going blind are blind, sighted and everyone in-between. It's okay to be single sometimes you can do more when you're single. You don't have to work around someone else's agenda or schedule. You can leave when you want to not having to wait. Making decisions without feedback. owning your own decisions, good or bad. Ultimately we need people, being single can be freeing.

James Rath after my saying all that I'm happily married and know the sacrifice needed on both parties which is so worth it. I can also see being single can have it's advantages. There are pros and cons to both life styles just don't let anyone pressure you into either. Just enjoy your life wherever you are and yes it can change sometimes in a heart beat.

I also do not remember my childhood very well and the conclusion I came to was that I had some anxiety back then, and anxiety is hell on your memory. So don't stress over it, haha, that's what makes us forget!

Great video I don't remember that I had any special assistant when I was in school I had to read small print they did told me about vision aides but I never used them they didn't work with me now I only have 1to2% of my vision left I only see the movement of the hand in less than 1 m and I'm learning Braille I wish that I have learned it when I was young now I'm in college and i'm chasing a lot of difficulties in studying Facing *

You say, you wished you were offered braille at a young age. Why not learn it now? I understand that it's simpler to learn these things the younger you are, but wouldn't it still be possible to learn it now?
