SatireDaily can you explain this to me? I can’t really comprehend this. How exactly did he have visions if he does not know what sight/vision is? Would indescribable visions be like when you picture something but can’t explain it to someone? Like you remembering something but you can’t quite put the picture into words? But again how would the person have any knowledge that this is happening or even a reference to visualize something when they have never seen anything to even think up?

@@ashtyler-bey5650 Hi Ash, This was about 16 years ago and I don't remember his entire description but it was something along the lines of him being aware of moving patterns and entities trying to present him gifts. You bring up good questions but at the time I was naive and wasn't interested/knowledgeable enough to try and understand how that would be possible or even know how to ask, I was more curious about his DMT trip. I just took him at his word that he "saw" things. I'm guessing a blind person who was born blind might not understand what experiencing sight is like, but give them sight for a just a moment and I'm pretty sure the concept would instantaneously make sense to them. We're talking about having an entirely new sensory input being activated instantly. Even if someone can't put it into words, they still experienced it. DMT isn't your typical psychedelic. I can try to explain to you what it's like to experience time not existing. I can try to tell you what it's like to be able to smell colors. I can try to tell you what it's like to be able to know anything and everything all at one time. I can try to explain what it's like to be blasted into a completely different dimension with entities communicating with you and teaching you about yourself, but if you've never experienced it you couldn't relate. But the moment you experience it, you and most everyone else would understand immediately. At least I'm assuming so.

SatireDaily Understandable. I agree with everything you said. It’s just hard for me to comprehend how that could happen when you’ve never seen, so you have no reference. I mean I guess you can imagine things, but again it’s kind of hard to understand how that’s possible with never having seen anything ever. What exactly do you think up when you don’t know what seeing is? I can only imagine because I’ve seen shapes and such. Even if they’re made up, I have the basis to make something up. It’s very interesting to think about. A study should be done on this. That’d be really cool.
@SatireDaily
@SatireDaily 5 жыл бұрын
@@ashtyler-bey5650 I agree, there should definitely be more studies done. The only person who has conducted a government approved DMT study was Dr. Rick Strassman but his study didn't involve any blind people.

Exactly. His eyes does not work, but his visual cortex is ready to fire up some colorful images if he triggers it. He says it wouldn’t work because he can’t dream images, but that’s not the same. You dream about things you have seen with your eyes, but you don’t dream random colorful patterns. DMT visuals are not based on things your eyes have seen, it’s already inside your brain. It’s geometrical patterns and such things that are simply part of nature and everything. He should try DMT before he says it won’t work and laugh at the idea.

@@richardstylez1950 yeah but hes like 50 years old. By now his visual cortex has most likely been completely rewired to take on different functions. Also, his brain has never seen anything ever. Even when we take DMT, all the weird shapes and patterns and colors are things that have been experienced at some time in our lives. Brains don't just innately know about blue or triangles or circles etc
@richardstylez1950
@richardstylez1950 5 жыл бұрын
Miwton Bwyadlee I get what you’re saying, but I’m trying to have an open mind here. Is there any scientific evidence that the brain has zero understanding of patterns unless you see them with your eyes first? Is it really impossible that certain things and concepts are hard wired into our dna and primal brain? Geometrical patterns is just physics, which is what everything is made of, whether you have eyes or not. It is proven recently that even certain memories and experiences travel to the next generation. Which means you are basically born with experience you don’t have, which explains phobias and reasonable anxiety. Your brain has knowledge and fear of things your parents saw in their lifetime, so if they ever saw a triangle, is it impossible that the child’s brain also has that concept, or at least sort of an image of a triangle somewhere in their subconcious mind? What I’m trying to say is that we don’t know unless we try. We can’t just claim it won’t work because this or that, and claim his visual cortex is rewired etc. How many times have people said that before science breakthroughs. "It won’t work because blah blah blah". And then it works. Happens all the time.

It probably boils down to whether a person’s blindness is neurological or optical. If it’s only an optical issue, the brain still has the potential to process visual stimuli, so psychedelics could activate the visual parts of the brain and cause a person who’s optically blind to potentially “see” hallucinations and colors.

His brain doesn’t know what sight is. He has not a single clue or grasp of what sight could possibly be. There’s no way in hell he would magically start seeing because of a hallucinogenic drug. Psychedelics work off of what’s already in your brain. You have to remember that everything you see, hear, feel, smell, or taste during a trip is altered by your brain because of the substance you took.
@richardstylez1950
@richardstylez1950 5 жыл бұрын
Cameron Dolieslager Please explain why people who have never seen a snake would be terrified by a first encounter. Please explain why people are scared of heights. Instincts, phobias etc. are not based on your own experiences. Your body already knows that going close to the edge of a tall building is a bad idea even though you’ve never done it before, and so you have no experience or reason to fear it, yet your body already has a physiological response to it. Certain things are printed into us. We don’t have to be taught to eat, we already "know" we need it. Just like sex. We also know a bright blue frog or insect should be avoided, because it could kill you. These things somehow travel through our DNA or whatever and is printed into us one way or another. Why is it then impossible that your visual cortex already have an idea of geometrical patterns and colors? All these years of evolution, and you think your brain is just born with a completely blank visual part when all these other things are already imprinted. You brain needs stimuli to trigger the visuals that your brain will process. Psychedelics triggers your visual cortex. Even with no eyes, you still have a own place in your brain for visuals. It just needs to be triggered. It’s like saying your computer can’t see images because your webcam isn’t connected.

I would like to point out that my ex was deaf since birth and was able to hear sounds on magic mushrooms. The reason for this is something called synesthesia which is a crossing of loops in the brain regarding how you see and hear and touch and taste and everything else regarding your sensory perception. so it allows people to see sounds and hear colors and taste movements and that kind of thing in larger doses.

WHY did you make this video if you haven't even tried psychedelics??? And some blind people are able to get 'visual' hallucinations on psychedelics. It all depends on the type of blindness; if a person is blind but their part of the brain which is responsible for image processing is intact, they may get hallucinations which they'd interpret as visual.
@TommyEdisonXP
@TommyEdisonXP 8 жыл бұрын
Two things, you're confusing people who were born blind with people who have lost their site. Secondly, I never said in this video whether or not I did use them. :-)
@arthurthegreat216

***** By no means am I an expert on the subject, but wouldn't people who, say, were born blind due to eye defects or damage rather than neuro-visual problems, still be able to experience some sort of imagery in their mind? Perhaps since they were never able to see, they just don't consider these thoughts visual in nature. I know you don't want to come out and explicitly say that you did/do drugs recreationally but this sort of non-committing approach really doesn't work for a video like this.
@arthurthegreat216
@arthurthegreat216 8 жыл бұрын
***** You get visual hallucination because the part of your brain which is responsible for image processing (as well as other parts of your brain) is temporarily 'rewired' by the drug. Your eyes still send in the same visual signals but your brain cannot process the information in the usual way. Now, some drugs can cause neural misfiring too, making you feel stimuli when there is non. In a visually impaired person with functional visual signal processing, this can result in neuron misfiring, that result in an 'image' (visual hallucination).
@arthurthegreat216
@arthurthegreat216 8 жыл бұрын
***** It doesn't necessarily come from senses that you have. If the person is blind but the channels by which information would travel had he been able to see are still intact, you could have a misfiring. Take for example the phenomenon of Phantom limbs: Many people who lose a limb report experiencing pain and other stimuli from the missing limb... So even though the limb is not there, they still feel it from time to time in the beginning because the nerve and neural channels that would rely information pertaining to the missing limb are still active and misfire from time to time.

but its much more complicated than that. what makes you think that our reality is entirely based on sensory experience ? Have you given any thought to the debates in philosophy for the past 2000 years ? Mind is active in constructing the model of the reality you see. The question is, where does this structure come from. We are not born a blank slate, our cognition meets halfway between raw sense data, and mind-made a priori concepts. Look into it, it will make you rethink your position.

The thing about particularly the classic tryptamine psychedelics (psilocybin, LSD, DMT,)--and this is empirical fact--they create a hyperconnected brain. Parts of your brain that normally cannot communicate and interact begin to do just that. Synesthesia, the blending of senses or experiencing one sense through another sense's channel, happens. You can't say that visual hallucinations are impossible for people with congenital blindness, because that's simply not true, particularly at high doses of on strong substances like DMT. If you're of a scientific mind then you no doubt believe that psychedelic drug trips are "all in your head," and you don't need eyes to experience what is only "in your head." Anyone who's used DMT can tell you that you don't need to see something with your eyes before you can see it in your mind..what you see in DMT is impossible to imagine. Anecdotal reports exist all over the place of congenitally blind people experiencing VERY visual "mental" hallucinations.

Anecdotal reports don't mean shit, there are plenty of anecdotal reports of ghosts and werewolves. Once this is tested and proven in a controlled environment then I'll believe it. As of yet reports of blind people's experiences on psychedelic drugs are few and far between, and most of them are of shaky credibility. This isn't enough evidence for us to draw a conclusion one way or the other.

+imchangingmyname You've obviously never tried either. What you see in DMT is literally impossible. There is no "prerequisite experience" for perceiving something that is literally impossible.
@danielwiebe2123
@danielwiebe2123 8 жыл бұрын
+imchangingmyname, you said: "One must be familiar with these concepts to even IMAGINE such a thing." This seems to confirm what I was suspecting. That the entities encountered on DMT are imagined. If they are imagined then obviously a blind person wouldn't see the because their mind has no reference to work from in creating them. But many people believe these entities are real [in a different dimension?] If they are real then I would think being blind wouldn't prevent someone from encountering them.
@ariansanders5140
@ariansanders5140 8 жыл бұрын
I'm not sure if this guy ever actually took psychedelics but one thing people have to remember is that since a blind person never has had sight even if drugs are giving them patterns and colors in their mind they would have no reference to them and they would be incomprehensible. They don't know what light and dark are or what red and blue are. Its like knowing that there are sweet,salty, sour, and bitter tastes but never actually tasting before. When you finally do all you know is you have a crazy sensation but you have no idea if its salty or not b/c its only ever been described to you. Now imagine that with colors, shapes, and depth perception which is whats needed to understand any picture in your head.

I say this with respect. Before you make a click bait vid about one of the hottest topics such as what blind people see on Psychedelics, why don't you test the theory yourself first. There are white papers on this subject already, so you can research it. Also, psychedelic stimuli is not always about pre-seen images converted into hallucinations. I like you man, but this wasn't fair.
@alexkulekci6417
@alexkulekci6417 6 жыл бұрын
Red Nova dafuq? This video is bullshit. Some people say that psychedelics don't even make you hallucinate and that it's just stigma to scare people away from it.

Alex Kulekci the people making those claims are incorrect
@alexkulekci6417
@alexkulekci6417 6 жыл бұрын
Thenick hood depends on your definition of "hallucinating". Psychedelics increase your awareness, so I don't see how having more awareness would make you hallucinate. If you say psychs make you hallucinate it's pretty contradicting.
@thenickhood1592
@thenickhood1592 6 жыл бұрын
Alex Kulekci well a hallucination is experiencing something that's not actually there , so of you want to argue that everything you experience on psychedelics is completely real and present then i suppose you could say psychedelics don't cause hallucinations but that's really more of a philosophical debate than anything. If you take the definition of hallucinations at it's face value then psychedelics absolutely cause hallucinations if your trying to make the argument that your mind is simply able to perceive these real things only while on psychedelics I suppose that's fair although I think saying that psychedelics don't cause hallucinations is fairly disengenuious because real or not real what you are experiencing is not ordinarily there and the definition of a hallucination is feeling, seeing, etc, things that aren't there and without a psychedelic the visions and feelings aren't there so that seems like hallucinating to me
@thenickhood1592
@thenickhood1592 6 жыл бұрын
Alex Kulekci also the claim that psychedelics make you more aware is fairly debatable

You seem like you're in an awesome state of mind my friend. Perhaps you shouldn't take a psychedelic. Or, perhaps you should. I've stopped 2 of my addictions with the aid of psychedelics. 2 that would have killed me a long time ago. Plus, my fear of death has greatly diminished. I'd recommend DMT, smoked, for you. It's the most intense out there but the duration is naught but about 15 mins.

agostinonet LSD is awesome! Don't get me wrong, I'm a big fan of LSD. What I don't have, most times, is an entire day to truly devote to it however. DMT is a kick to the nuts as far as strength goes but it fades after ~15 mins. I think it's more appropriate for most people and most circumstances.

First of all - i have never seen a blind man before sitting like that with his eyes closed. Second, blind people have a pineal gland too, and if it´s not calcifyed due to use of sodium fluoride (check your toothpaste) and been drinking it in water (unknowingly - you will not get inner visions. Goes for peeps with normal eyesight aswell - decalcify your pineal gland, there are many methods, but it is essential. Third, widsom comes thru knowledge and understanding, if you havent even tried psychedelics - you are not in position to share experience about it - hence you have none.

@explosu
@explosu 8 жыл бұрын
+StegoSigma en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pineal_gland#Calcification This is a real thing that happens and which may be linked to alzheimers, although fluoride has nothing to do with it. @FredsGartner, fluoride is available from all water sources and has been since life evolved. It leeches out of the soil and rocks like any other mineral - water is just awesome like that. Our body has an all-natural way of dealing with it - it gets absorbed through the intestine and excreted through urine. Fluoride toxicity is real, but it's the same as anything - the world is very hostile to life, and generally the simplest toxins are also the easiest to neutralize when not taken in excess. I would agree based on the accidental release of excess fluoride in a few cases that the use of fluoride in water is no longer called for, for the simple reason that toothpaste exists, but keep it real.

It's very toxic yet they put it in every water supply in the u.s. and dentist recommend it for your teeth when it's actually not good for you at all. The fluoride your talking about that leeches out of rocks and soil is natural and is not the fluoride the original comment was talking about

The question wasn't, what do you "think" blind people experience on psycadellics. You should have just said "I don't know". Or labeled this video as an opinion. As enjoyable as you are to watch, the title was misleading. This topic and movie title caught my eye, and your statements made me think, but gave no answers, and was not the scientific voice of experience I was hoping for. psychedelics often induce experiences that transcend the senses, especially in "heroic doses" you're kind of just blasted out of reality and you're not really into sights or sounds. It's just something else entirely. I'd really be interested in what you'd experience in that state of mind.

I see some shifting movements, particularly in flow technique paintings. Other than that I see in ultra HD and the contrast and saturation is increased. The things I see are filled with meaning and exude some kind of significance in the world, as if the things want to express themselves. (talking 200μg, haven't had more than that yet)

If someone blind from birth, tried something like ayahuasca and had visual effects... it would blow the mind of science and every free thinking person on earth. This is not something to just answer the way you have done. Be your own mind and create your own logic. Experience it for yourself rather than go by the mainstream theory. It may be the best experience of your life. Please be honest and document it for us... if they let you >:/

Tommy, I have an idea for a video. I noticed you have a pleasant smile. This comes natural to you with out ever seeing another person's smile. I'm curious about other facial expressions that come naturally, that is not learned from seeing others. Like disgust, anger, curiosity and such. Perhaps you could make a video with you facially expressing these different emotions.

I don't know if you read any of these comments Tommy, but I've experienced at least one purely physical hallucination - when tripping on acid, I imagined what it would feel like to slice my palm open with a razor blade and I felt it as though it were entirely real. I was so fascinated with the hallucinated experience, that I kept repeating it in my "mind's eye" over and over again (I didn't say it wasn't demented and sad, it's just something I experienced).

I worked as a helper with a blind carpenter. I had been there for several weeks without any incidence. One morning the job foreman was in a heated discussion. DMT will likely not make him see. His brain has never processed light or images or such. DMT activates this area of the Brian that processes visual things, but if he hasn't developed the ability to comprehend images, he will not see it.

Doesn't matter, the visuals created are created by your memories, and your brains "memories" .. If you brain hasn't learned to interpret any visual information, it can not present itself with visual information just because of a psychedelic.. thats ridiculous ..

iGod You're very wrong and try not to make a fact out of an opinion. Might I suggest reading "DMT: The spirit molecule"? I can't say for a fact that someone could definitely see hallucinations in DMT but in retrospect, DMT brings you to a world you can only "see" with the "Minds eye". Don't take the word "See" too seriously in this context. It has nothing to do with being a Hippie, your brain makes connections on psychadelics that you can't make when NOT on them. It makes for a more connected and higher capacity useage in the brain. It seems highly ignorant for you to dismiss this simply because you don't "Believe" in it.

Here I'll explain how you see through a window and see the glass at the same time. Number one: Windows don't let through all the light, but something like 90% or 95%, so everything looks a little darker through window. Imagine you see a scenery in front of you. There is a frame placed a few meters away where there is no window. Now, you can look at the scenery, either through frame, or you can look next to the frame (not through it). If there is no glass panel in the frame, the scenery looks the same through it and next to it. However, if there is a glass panel, the scenery behind the panel looks little bit darker. I don't know if you understand the concept of darkness, but you probably know that the less light there is, the harder it is to see. However, you could think about it as a color change: Everything behind the glass panel turns to slightly different color. And as you probably know, you can identify identical shapes if they are of different color. Actually that explanation is not even that far off, because the amount of light is part of color. Most people aren't even aware of this fact, which might be why it's difficult for them to explain how they "see" glass. If you paint 5 bright blue dots on a paper and then put a few glass panels on top of one of them, people will "see" and understand in their brain that the dots are of same color, however if you take a picture and analyze the colors in the image, the pixels of the dot with glass on it on are actually of darker color. Number two: Dirt. Glass is usually not completely clean, so people can see the dirt and dust on the surface. Overall, unless there are big stains, it just makes the glass more opaque. However, there are some videos online of rare occurrences, where a glass on a door or nearby glass wall is so clean and opaque a person doesn't see it and crashes into it. Let's talk about mirrors and reflection. You can't only see yourself in a mirror, but you can see the whole place in a mirror. Mirror looks like a window, a hole to another, mirrored world. It's so fascinating that some fiction uses that as a premise. Mirrors make rooms look bigger than they are, and they also use mirrors in grocery stores to make the shelves look longer. Babies, animals and drunk people are sometimes confused by mirrors and their own reflections. There is a video where a drunk person in a store tries to pass his reflection in a mirror wall, because it looks like the aisle continues further while there is actually just a window. Number three, almost as important as the first one: Reflections. Glass isn't just see through, but it also reflects small amount of light like a mirror. It depends entirely on the lighting circumstances, but a glass can sometimes be mistaken for a mirror. A glass can look anywhere from completely see-through to completely mirror. Yes, you can see 50% your reflection and 50% to the other side, two images at the same time. It's easy to see from a dark place to a well-lit place, because the reflection from your dark place is so small compared to the light coming through the glass from the well-lit place. However, when you are on the well-lit side, it's hard to see to a dark side behind a glass, because the amount of light coming from the dark place is small compared to the reflection of your well-lit place. Daylight is very strong compared to normal room lighting, so that's why you can see yourself in store windows when walking outside. On the other hand, when it's dark at night, unless you turn out the lights, it's hard to see outside because you'll see the reflection of your lit room, while it's very easy to see INSIDE your home from outside at night, which is a bit scary (at least for us non-blind people). That's why people close the curtains at night. This is also how one-way mirrors/windows work. One-way mirrors have a coating that makes a glass more reflective (like a mirror) while being still see-through. Read more about one-way mirrors on wikipedia. Overall, you could say that you don't actually see glass, but the effects of it (darkened color and reflections). Because you know what things look like without a glass, your brain subtracts the effects of the glass. Seeing glass is actually just noticing that subtraction.
