Equipment is very over-rated mate! Remember the BIG 4....Arnie, Jack, Gary and Lee, they all had no swing coaches, no lessons, played with rubbish equipment whereby the iron heads looked like bread knives, shafts were stiffer than a lamp post, rubbish golf balls that travelled 50 yds shorter, small persimmon driver heads, rubbish greens and fairways, terrible bunkers and played off disgusting lies, yet they all shot mid 60's every week! It's called "TALENT" ....

What age are you? I’m 64 and not into old man swing just yet, but have always enjoyed light equipment when playing racket/bat sports tennis, badminton, squash etc. so seriously thinking of graphite shafted if replace my irons, tried this on a Mizuno fitting which went well for the 925’s but couldn’t get the data to compare V my own clubs for distance etc

Can't believe shaft manufacturer's don't mark the spine on their shafts. It's a 20 second operation to determine that orientation.

With the price of a good quality graphite iron shaft in this part of Canada, I'd have to take my golf A LOT more seriously than I do in order to justify making the leap.

As soon as Takomo comes out with a black or copper set again, I’m buying them. But I like KBS Tour steel, so I don’t need a custom order. Unless you are a pro, paying $125 per shaft, plus installation, is a little ridiculous.
@JamesRobinsonGolf2 күн бұрын
Surely you see the benefit in spending on shafts what you’ve for fancy name club heads though? That’s my opinion
@Hunter-zp5hd2 күн бұрын
I do. If you can afford that level of fitting. 90+% of golfers can’t even hit the ball consistently enough for that to matter. For the other 10% of those, many can’t afford that cost. That’s the whole reason why DTC manufactures exist. You can get a great set of blades for under $700. But if you must, you can spend your money on anything you wish. I do love your channel though. I watch all the Next 100 videos. It’s like ASMR for me. You guys are so lucky to be able to play all of those courses in the UK. In Alabama, most of the courses here are pretty garbage. In order to play a really good course, you’ll pay a stack of cash.

Had a Mizuno fitting at a local club, they don’t charge any premium if you buy graphite shafts as long as it’s from their standard range of shafts in the fitting kit

Making sure "Every stone is unturned" is Gaz's idea of making sure all details are correct? Great golfer but is he the best commentator? Love these unusual metaphors that give some sort of realism to these partnered videos. Interesting aspect of the "pure" idea for the shafts, where the labels on the shafts can be in different positions to get the spine placement correct. Does the different label placement affect your alignment in any way?

This is an extremely commonly used phrase in this kind of circumstance. In fact, probably the most commonly used. I've only heard it used hundreds of times... Sorry but just trying to understand how this is an unusual metaphor to anyone or even remotely interesting enough to mention. Maybe the fact that this is unusual to someone IS the interesting part.
@ianburton92232 күн бұрын
@@antondredoublee7727 The usual form is "leave no stone unturned" to represent considering every detail. The usage of "making sure every stone is unturned" is unique to Gaz. He just got two ideas mixed up - mixed metaphors. It's part of the entertainment that Gaz provides on his own channel and in shared videos with others.
@ssp_201520 сағат бұрын
@ianburton9223 metaphors aren't unique, they're colloquial to regions. Saying it your way is correct to you, saying it another way might be correct to many other people. The sentiment is still translated through the metaphor. Why are you being so hard on it?

Jamie’s love to know the shaft specs for the LA shafts in your new clubs . As a club repair / custom build I have always used the spine Aligned and then FLO technique in my builds and repairs , but as you say not everybody can put up with the logos all over the place . Also the LA Shafts are an expensive item you would think they would be spined during their production.

I’m graphite in everything now! It’s extending my playing career but it’s definitely a different window. I was in nippon 130x and #axiom 125x actually makes more swingweight than steel in my #Srixon Z Forged ii. The #Fujikura #MCI wedge shaft is so good! I’m playing the 125 solid in the sand and 125 mild in the LW. After 39 years of playing my elbows wrists hands and shoulders appreciate the damping of vibration and omg Axiom is the best graphite part I’ve ever hit. I was in Fuji pro 115 tx previously and they are great too but axiom is worth the squeeze. I launch its 20 ft higher and spin it 1100 rpm’s less with axiom over nippon 130

Still won't give a total cost for buying DTC irons, then the fitting of LA shafts and pured then etc . That way, we can see if it's really value for money or not. Seems to defeat the cost saving.
@ArtistPhil583 күн бұрын
Getting the 301 Heads only from Takomo is €499,00, the LA Golf shafts are about €700 and then maybe add in €150 for fitting and puring = €1349 = (today) £1120
@BSchindel12 күн бұрын
@ArtistPhil58 and then compare that to cost of high cost irons with custom LA Golf shafts to get a truer apples to apples comparison. The DTC Takomos still come out cheaper. But obviously customizing them runs up the price.

I have a set of the copper Next 100 tour irons. I love the club heads and the feel but don’t really like the KBS Tour 120 shafts so I went to Club Champ here in LA. Paid $179 for a shaft fitting. Came to conclusion that I needed KBS Pro Tour Lites. Club Champ wanted to charge me $1400 (before subtracting fitting cost) for the build (7 clubs), the shafts, new grips and to pure each shaft. Couldn’t justify spending that much on irons that cost me $600. Will buy new shafts and grips and get my local shop to do it for less than 1/3 of the cost.

I've been watching James hit balls for quite a while now and his "shot" is always a little left. If you look at his feet his left foot is a little behind his right, and right as he swings he opens it up a little more. It's good to now what your miss is, but I think if he fixes that he will be a lot more bang on the target.

I feel like shaft and grip tech is one of the last leaps that golfers can get in their clubs. Clubheads in general have been taken about as far as they can by the rules.
