Jamestown, New York - Out and About - Grave of Lucille Ball - National Comedy Center - Lucy Statues

This week’s adventure continues with my good friend Tolle from @TheTolleRoad. We journey down to Jamestown, New York for an out and about exploration of this very cool city. We start with a quick tour of the National Comedy Center. From there, we take a walk around the city to see what we can find. I then bring Tolle to Lucille Ball Memorial Park to see the two Lucy statues. We finish the trip with a visit to Lake View Cemetery to pay our respects to an amazing comedian and actress, at the final resting place of Lucille Ball. Doggonit, Dave!! Let me know the next time you come to my town!! LOL I would love to meet you. Or at least shake your hand to thank you for all the hours of video the wife and I have enjoyed for over three years. That elaborate building you were looking at near the lighthouse is the Chautauqua Harbor Hotel. The alley where you were admiring the animal graffiti is also one of the film locations of the ill-fated “Gone in 60 Seconds 2”. (The director, Toby Halicki, was killed in a freak accident during filming in Dunkirk, NY.) Just some useless trivia for ya about our area that I thought I’d share!

Lucy was a force to be reckoned with by any standard let alone as a woman in her time. She’s single-handedly responsible for several TV shows remaining on air and for transforming the film and tv industry approach to female filmmakers, directors and producers. Great vlog, had no idea where she was buried or even from. Hats off the Tolle for laying one on her.

She was really an incredibly funny and talented person. There are so many show produced under the Desilu banner that we can thank her for. The original Star Trek was originally slated for cancellation until she stepped in.

That statue! My word! How did they allow that??? 🤮 it’s uncanny- my sister in law just showed her husband of HER trip there to the desi Lu museum today! Hours before they came to dinner! Whaaat? Kismet! And good heavens I love lighthouses too! I Have a book of the lighthouses of nj/ New York- have toured 5 so far! You should totally vlog a few!! Dude!! The Staten Island ferry tour is free and sooo fun!! Also, I scrolled down your videos and good grief I have a lot of catching up to do!! You have like 100! How do you have TIME for all these adventures!! Thou shall not covet but dude I am so jealous! 😆 keep going unkle heavy - stay on the wild side!

153 so far, but who's counting? 😁 Yes I really dig lighthouses, try to see them whenever I can. I've toured a couple in my blogs. Something about him was just totally amazing. If you're touring lighthouses in NY & NJ, one that I have not vlogged yet but have toured years ago was "Old Barney" on Long Beach Island. It is a really amazing lighthouse to see in super tall!

Chautaqua Lake is filled with monster muskies, some 50 or more inches long. My visits to Jamestown have always been about fishing the lake, but it looks like I need to slow down and check out the rest of it.
