It encapsulates a certain period of 90s so well that it almost makes me cry. Im sure i'm not alone here, if you lived through those times you know what memories it brings.

Yeah. In fact it was one of the first tunes I searched for. I think "Standing around a broken telephone booth with money in my hand" and Tonic "If you could only see" were both on some free CD I got from a magazine back then. Good times...

When this came out in 1993 (at least in the US) it was considered "alternative" music and wasn't very main stream (hair metal, mariah carey, whitney houston were ubiquitous). MTV played this on 120 Minutes or you could hear it on college radio. Good music. is out there. You just won't have it spoon fed to you - now or in the mythical 80s / 90s.

1988-1992, pre britpop and lad mags and spice girls ... these 4 years were a golden age fro me - Smiths, James, Sundays, Chapterhouse, Ride, Adorable, Wedding Present, JAMC, Stone Roses, Mondays, Primal Scream, Pale Saints, Wonder Stuff, Kingmaker, Slowdive - this song is later, but has the spirit. For me it's a period which feels the way my parents described the mid-60's, and we will never see either of their likes again.

My dads favourite band. Every time I think of/hear his song I get the urge to dance and I do - in typical James fashion! Yes I may get weird looks, or people may laugh but the least I can do is express myself to music I love or hear; and I may have an impact on other people’s lives (“remember that guy who started dancing like a maniac in the tube station” “remember that guy who started dancing in Starbucks”) we are human and when you get the urge to dance and express yourself then do it! For yourself more than anyone - you will feel fantastic (and only slightly embarrassed) but own it! Some people might even join in!
