They should have marketed it as a storytelling event. For those who don’t know, storytelling is when people tell a story about a specific event in their life in front of people. In my opinion, that is what this was. I enjoyed it because I am fond of storytelling.

I thought it would be a stand up special. This was just story telling with a couple of jokes thrown in.
@AxiomAmnesiaАй бұрын
Yep! Did you enjoy the storytelling?

@AxiomAmnesia I'm nosy so I wanted to hear his account as to what happened. I didn't really care for the special and won't be watching it again. Rather rewatch "Run Tell That".
@AxiomAmnesiaАй бұрын
Yeah, maybe we should watch Run Tell Dat again too! 😂

Actually they are paying homage to the Special Richard Pryor put out telling his story. There were funny parts, but Jamie’s comedy has always been different where he added music to his shows, so that also took away from what people look for in a regular comedy show. I liked it! He gave what the people were looking for, which was what actually happened to him, a bit of comedy, singing and thanking those who still support him. He also showed that he has grown closer to God.

I don't think this was really anything like the Pryor comedy special because that special was comedy with a bit of seriousness. This was a testimony with a little bit of humor mixed in.

@ I think it was too soon. If he would have waited another year or so it would have been different. It was only last year, and Richard waited about two years before speaking out about his situation. I think you could see the comparison, same for Monique and Dave Chapelle. They waited long enough and were able to perfect it like Richard did. That’s all I’m saying. I see the blueprint that Rich laid out and many are following. I’m mean you can even throw Chris Rock and Kevin Hart in there.

It was sad to watch actually. I have my own medical trauma and diagnosed medical PTSD, so after a while, I had to stop watching it. It was triggering actually. So I agree. It’s definitely NOT anything comedic about it whatsoever! He could have done a docu-series or a movie or something else that would have addressed what happened and not given the impression that he’s about to do an actual stand up comedy special. So I was somewhat disappointed by the mis-categorization of what it was about.

I'm sorry to hear about your trauma. I think a docuseries might have been nice and could have done well.

I think the special is what we expected. People wanted an explanation far more than the comedy. Whether we fully believe the explanation or not, we just needed to hear from Jamie. Even if just to see if that it's really him ( less be honest). I didn't mind the lack of comedic moments since He's clearly not 100 percent (we notice those "ticks") This was more like "sitting down with family" and catching them up on things. Its kinda selfish for us to expect him to be back in his "prime form" already, just so we can be entertained again. Just glad to see our brother well.
@AxiomAmnesiaАй бұрын
I was thinking that his ticks were moreso emotion breaking through. Heit did feel differently though.
@ladytinag4276Ай бұрын
I enjoyed it. No, it was not a comedy show per se but I still enjoyed the content. He wanted to share his “brink of death” experience in this fashion. It was all good.

Is no one else curious as to what happened to the tattoo on the back of his head that was there before the stroke?

See another video that never showed up. Lame. I still love the content. Imma jump on the patreon or something because this is ridiculous.
