Thank you for this video my man and taking time out of your life to give back. 👊🏼🇺🇸

Jamie’s a great guy, works hard for the community and runs a store really close to me, looks like he has had a lifetime of serving. I was in the store the other day when a state trooper came in for breakfast and came to pay and he said no, first responders are free. He’s the real deal.

After 3 disqualifications at Meps I thought it was over and I tried one last time during Trumps presidency and I got in it took 25 months to get all waivers cleared. Never give up and never give in. Great discussion on falling in with the right type of folks when you join - especially early on this can make the difference between a successful enlistment or even career OR a failure to adapt or disciplinary/admin separation.

I joined guard in 97. New Jersey. I can tell you first hand from someone who was at 911 3 hrs after the towers fell. We were on the rotation slot so, pa, ny and nj were going asap. It was a big unknown and everyone was nervous and scared. That's the honest assessment of how it was in our AO. Once the first unit came home everyone was a little calmer. Then it escalates to multiple deployments to the point where life at home is boring. Keep in mind some of the guard personnel are AGR or title 32 miltechs. Their jobs are rank locked. If the job is for an E5 they can't promote up. So you take a 20 year E5 making 70 or 80 grand with bah and its scary to try and get promoted. You can promote yourself out of a job. Same with miltechs, only worse. Their mos is tide to their civilian job. Change mos for promotion, loose your job. It's a double edged sword. Great job, just possibly not an advancing one in regards to rank. I was an E5 for 10 years, working in the G6 full time, miltech. Had more power and resources under my belt just a phone call away then the BDE S6. Yet still treated like an E5. Once i got out of BDE went Warrant and was treated differently. But it was sad cause our S6 would've been 100% more mission capable if our O4 didn't look at my advice based on rank. An O4 MDay guy is gonna tell a full time E5 G6 what assets are available for the teams??? It was just sad.
@nodaklojack Жыл бұрын
💯 true, full time AGR and full time techs are the ones who really run NG units. Mday is great if you have a great civilian job but usually not as fulfilling as the full timers.

It’s actually a lot more than the typical Guard “one weekend a month” deal. SF Guard has to maintain the same qualifications as their AD counterparts. They are often quite busy.

"The pioneers of a warless world are the young men and women who refuse military service. He who joyfully marches to music in rank and file has already earned my contempt. He has been given a large brain by mistake, since for him the spinal cord would fully suffice. This disgrace to civilization should be done away with at once. Heroism at command, senseless brutality, deplorable love-of-country stance, how violently I hate all this, how despicable and ignoble war is; I would rather be torn to shreds than be a part of so base an action! It is my conviction that killing under the cloak of war is nothing but an act of murder." -Albert Einstein
