Hi Jamie, This has really helped Me and I have learnt a lot. The lake I fish had not been fishing well. I always fish on the bottom and sometimes sit there with No bites. The lake is around three feet at 5 meters out. My Grandson comes along with Me and We fish 5 meter elasticated whips using a number 5 elastic and a 0.16 main and a 0.07 hook link. Target is silver's. I made up some 12" 24" and 36" rigs. Started on bottom and nothing. I decided to lower the rig in slowly and about a foot off the bottom a lovely Roach ripped the elastic out. Tried the same again and another bite at the same place. I changed to the 24" rig and started to catch. Every fish self hooked. I have carried out some of your mods. Today was 17 degrees but this set up was still working. My Grandson was impressed too. We had some Roach, Rudd and Perch out. This video has really helped us. I now understand about finding what level they want to feed at. Many thanks.

Regarding the short dacron, why don't you use a short one for all your fishing.. Thanks.

Absolutely spot on about the Ducks , I’ve seen it fishing for wild carp abroad, they happily feed together and when the birds spook or so it’s bye bye carp.

Good video Jamie but the only problem is getting hold of short kits as I have had an MTX3 pole since March I have tried to get hold of some but our tackle shops just can't get hold of any is there a reason why they are so hard to get hold of. Enjoyed video good info so tight lines .🎣🎣🎣⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

I had to get a short number 3 section for an mtx4 , they all fit . A few short kits about but you need to search for them 😯

Would love to no if Jamie thinks fishing dead maggots is alrite.. iv always got maggots left over so I freeze them... I usually use them in my groundbait when I hit the canal for perch.. but would dead maggot be good for carp?

I learnt my on deck pole fishing from your video with Andy.. served me very well.. iv not done shallow fishing with my pole yet so will try this.. quite new to pole fishing.. I'm guessing all this stays the same with using pellet

Great video. So yesterday I shallow fished using as many if these tips as I could. And the most interesting ones were: I started with a conventional Dacron then switched to a Drennan bungee connector - result - missed bites went down I fished conventional maggot hooking & then switched to side hooked - result - missed bites reduced even more. Fish were up & down as my feeding with catapult needs working on, so with that randomised I deffo think these tricks do work.. Thanks Jamie

Hi Matrix and Jamie, great video once again :). What would you do if your constantly plagued by tiny fish when fishing shallow either with maggots/casters or even pellets? The last time I went no matter what I tried it was a tiny fish every put in. Thanks keep up the great series :)

How long do you use the same rig, before changing either shorter or longer? If you have 3 different rigs, do you try them all out, checking how frequently you catch on each, or if you catch with the first one, you keep fishing with that one?

There are a few pole float conversion sheet available on the internet, but to quickly and those examples - 4x12 = 0.2g 4x14 = 0.4g

Oh for god sake ! A float is jus an indication. In India, China etc just a stick and a piece of twig does the job. We have gone too far with crap that companies want you to buy. I use any float and I do not use Dacron. Catch loads

When talking about the bristle and whether hollow or solid or whatever, it doesn't matter. We had an argument years ago on Fishingmagic and I believed what you have just said, a solid bristle puts up less resistance and I was proven wrong. It was proven to me by Mark Wintle, a cracking roach angler, that it's Archimedes' principle here, it's the volume (or weight) of water the bristle has to displace that determines how sensitive it is. So whether a fat hollow bristle, thin solid bristle, or even a nail, they will all be just as sensitive because all the fish has to pull under is the portion of tip that's above water. If they would all just require a no.6 shot to sink them then they are all just as sensitive.
@paulsheridan2913 жыл бұрын
tbh wouldnt listen to this guy.matrix pellet waggler floats are crap tbh. sinking feeder mono fcking pants. hooks are wank . he dont want to talk about elastic because he using better than slik.
@jamiem26933 жыл бұрын
What about him being, arguably, the best commercial angler in the country? I don’t think he mentioned a matrix product in this video by the way?
@jamiem26933 жыл бұрын
That doesn’t make sense. A thin solid bristle is less to displace than a thicker hollow bristle. A nail, being made of steel, obviously, would sink of its own weight?
@paulsheridan2913 жыл бұрын

Wouldn’t it be more productive to fish in open water than to ie Lilly pads as they hold fish and that not given a good idea to fish shallow
@ifishmatrix2 жыл бұрын
I think you answered your own question. The reason jamie fished up to the lily pads is because they hold a lot more fish that picking a spot in open water.
