I've just listened to about a dozen covers of this song by various people and groups. All wonderful singers. But there are some songs that are so personal, so bound up with the writer's soul, that it never really works. Great singers who were/are very close to Emmylou Harris, like Linda Ronstadt, never even tried to cover it.
