Jamie's iconic method of producing horses to win from the back of the field really has been one of the joys of the sport. It really is an amazing skill because he has to have a feel for the pace of the race, how well is own horse and the rest of the field is going at a crucial stage towards the finish. I am not sure any other jockey is quite as talented as him in this aspect of horse racing.

@@alanito77orourke14 And not only that but did so twice, as well as bumped Rhinestone Cowboy and all of that forced him from racing in the middle of the course onto the running rail. Then Pizarro drifted away from the rail after leaning on Rhinestone Cowboy, which left a lovely run up the rail for Rhinestone Cowboy to go and win the race, before Pizarro drifted back towards him and stopped his run by leaning on him again. I heard that Jamie Spencer was rushing off to ride abroad at a flat meeting straight after this race and they did a half-hearted steward enquiry and then let him go off to catch his flight.

Absolute class Jamie Spencer so much rubbish has been said and typed (usually by armchair Jockey's) on Social Media by people who have absolutely no idea about race riding or just how astute and knowledgeable Jamie is . Wish him well .

Nice bloke but I bet if he worked in the city he would be sacked for missing too many buses to work by arriving too late !! many fancied horses he rode got just beat by his exaggerated waiting tactics, looks great when it works but bad when it fails. Having said that he is a very good judge of a horse and his analysis is nearly always spot on just gets his timing off sometimes which is perhaps why Ballydoyle ended their association.

Have loved watching Spencer over the years, shame to see on a couple of big Saturdays last year he'd be somewhere like Doncaster for evening meetings. Good shift in the States for Godolphin though.

jamie piggott is a better jockey :PP instead of nick badluck interviewing him they should have drafted in Emma Ramsden to do it, when he talked about Curley he stated there was nothing in it for him.....i.e Curley , who is being portrayed as a latter day Jesus type.......nothing except telling him if there was anything really good they rode or rode work on , there is ALWAYS something expected in return, the most important piece of advise he gave? hold one up and keep holding it up and run into all sorts of trouble ........on a positive note, he rode an INCREDIBLE race on a thing of Godolphins at Belmont in the autumn and i won alot on that , thanks Jamie

He is a great jockey who most definitely should have achieved much more in his career. Unfortunately he has himself to blame because to many of his rides were ridden in the same manner and he would leave many far to late to have a realistic chance of winning. In my humble opinion he become a bit to predictable and should have been more versatile especially with all his experience.
@joeexotic58312 жыл бұрын
He rides from the front when he wants, Ive seen him do it, Id suggest hes a good mate of barneys. He loses so often on fancied horses by holding them up and they come too late, then wins on outsiders from the front every blue moon when theres money for it. Ive seen him 2 or 3 times in last 6 months, suddenly ping the lids and go from near the front. Hes not 1 dimensional as he wins most of the times Ive seen him do that, but yet he reverts back to exaggerated hold up tactics 90% of the time, Id say the only reason for that is its easier to get beat doing that than it is if they are closer to the pace, if you hold horse up and it gets there too late, it tends to be put down to bad luck and not looked into by stewards, many times you see a Jamie Spencer stitch up job get going too late from the back win a much more valuable race in its next couple of runs
