Jamie Thomas is a super nice dude. Back in 2010 Zero had a demo where I live in Kansas. I got to the demo early, so my friends won’t have to rush to get me and my wheelchair out of the car. We parked in the accessible parking space and the Zero van was parked right next us. I had brought a board to the demo with the intention of having Jamie sign it, but that plan changed once Jamie saw the board. I had a “Chomp On This” Zero board I’d had since 2002 and Jamie’s face lit up when I showed it to him. “You have a Chomp board?… I don’t even have one of those!… would you be down for a trade?” is what he said to me. I had something Jamie, the owner of the brand didn’t even have and I have visions of boxes of shoes, cloths and boards coming my way, but I decided not to be greedy and traded the Chomp deck for a shirt for me and my friends and a tour board. Not the best trade ever, but I’m happy with it. After I found my spot at the demo, Jamie brought me some pizza and pop and then asked to see the tour board I got in the trade. He signed it and then walked away with it. I was like “WTF?”. About an hour later, Jamie brought back my tour board and it had been signed by the entire team. I couldn’t believe Jamie spent all that time doing something that nice for me. I spent the rest of the demo hanging out and talking shit with Dane Burman, Elissa Steamer and Tommy Sandoval. It was the best day ever. Two days later I was in a coma and when I came too, Jamie when check up on me through Instagram. Another cool thing is my Chomp board (the one I traded to Jamie) was taken all over the country as part of Zero’s 20th. anniversary tour/art show. I was pretty stoked seeing my board on display and enjoyed by other Skateboard Nerds like myself. Zero came to Kansas City on that tour. Unfortunately I couldn’t go because I was recovering from my second coma. I need to ask Jamie not to come to Kansas anymore, I’m tired of being in comas. Haha!

About 20 years ago, I bought a Zero board and it snapped within a few days. I was big into gaps at the time and I was pretty upset that it broke so quickly. Being an angry teenager...I sent the board to Zero and sent a letter complaining about the quality. Jamie signed a board, "Barry, you need to work on your landings. - J.T." and sent it to me within a few days. I was blown away. Like an idiot, I skated it right away and didn't save it, but to this day I appreciate the personal touch he put into customer satisfaction.

It's crazy that jamie & muska were on the same team in their prime days, circa shoes. No wonder chris cole went over to dc shoes, I was confused but now I know. Fallen was done for, I wonder where's jon allie, adrien lopez, alex gall, etc. Most of the zero team was on circa.

Wow! I've always wondered what that message was in Baker 2G back then, I was like 11 or 12, my brother and his skater friends didn't get it either, I guess no one did lol.

hey man, is the bed for this video just a drumtrack? It's kind of distracting

Can you do a video on how Maple and Speed Demons went from a legit brand to being in walmart? I was always curious how this happened.
@jamalydude6 жыл бұрын
FuturaBaby maple and speed demons sold so well and became staple names thus appealing to department stores and children
@FuturaBaby6 жыл бұрын
Sure, I can understand that but how/why did the quality of the product go down so much? They went from good quality boards to crappy Walmart type boards. Does the factory have a "shitty quality" option?
@jamalydude6 жыл бұрын
FuturaBaby yeah I think the wood they use is super cheap and they make a lot of profit for the price they sell them at even if it’s low price, shitty wood, shitty, trucks and wheels, shitty grip, mass produced and sold nationwide . Only kids would get adequate use out of them. Basically if you had a kid who wanted a board but thought he might quit it would be more feasible to buy him the 40$ maple complete then a 100$ good deck

Didn't know this happened til I saw your comment! Darkstar is next, allegedly.

I haven't heard much about darkstar but its absolutely bonkers seeing skateboarding get to that level. Jeez.

you gotta add the music back in the background like your older vids! this just sounds like a news report. I still like the info, but it's not fun to watch, so I just put it on in the background while I work on something else.
