Just found your channel. I've had a mandolin for years but have put off learning it. You have made it seem more easy now to start!

This is awesome! Thank you so much. Yesterday I went to my local guitar store to purchase new guitar strings and long story short...I came home with a new mandolin. I couldn't help it. I saw it on a shelf and thought it looked beautiful. I've always wanted one so I could play Maggie May, Copperhead Road by Steve Earl, and Battle of Evermore by Led Zep. I always thought it was a pretty-sounding instrument.

I feel so blessed to have found you on here! I just started to learn how to play the mandolin. My dad used to play and tried to get me to learn but I never did. I'm now 76 and this is on my bucket list. You explain this so well. Thank you!

Now I really want a mandolin 😂 it’s like a steel ukulele

Not quite but they are pretty cool instruments. If you already play ukulele or guitar, you've already got the right experience.

How much should I save up to buy a beginner mandolin? Is a A style mandolin a fairly decent mandolin or do I need an f-style. Is an Ibanez A-style mandolin ok to start out with or is it a waste of money. I have a Rogue Mandolin that is very cheap but I thought an Ibanez might be better. Help me please. Thank You Jamie. Luv ya, Donna

Hard to quote a price because it varies so much depending on where you live and where you buy it. I paid $300 for mine, used. Go to a music store or check ads, play what they have and buy the one that plays well, looks good and stays in tune. It doesn't matter if you buy an A or F style. Most bluegrass players play an F style. Other genres, A or F.
