Toilet removal tip...After shutting off the water and flushing, use a wet/dry shop vac to suck up the bit of water that was left behind :-)

Here's a tip for removing a toilet and not getting toilet water everywhere. Once you remove it have someone standing by with a trash bag. Put it in a bag and carry it down that way. It doesn't make it any easier but it makes it less messy.

I saw some stuff you can pour into the toilet that makes the water turn into a gel so it doesn’t leak. I don’t know what it’s called but maybe that’ll help you in the future?

The can lights aren’t too bad! If you search “pancake can lights” they come up. If you know a little electrical they are great because you don’t damage drywall, just fish the wires through the attic!

Your bathroom light fixture appears to be from the 70s and that was popular in bathrooms for awhile then. The 70s had a lot of faux Victorian stuff. You could prob sell it, it's kinda cool and I bet someone would want it. Nice looking bathroom now. I love the new mirrors.

You could use a DT Turkey baster to remove all of the water. There is also a product that your pour in that turns water to a gel but probably costs more that $1.25.

Some toilet tips. Take a clamp you can reverse so it pushes out and use it within the bowl as a handle to make it easier to carry. I also like to take a garbage bag and put the bottom in it, especially if I have a long way to carry it.

I had some friends who bought a house, and almost from the moment they moved in, their daughter began to develop asthma and allergy issues. When they went to downsize and sell several years later, they began to do all the things you do to sell, i.e., clean out forgotten areas, put down new carpet, etc. While removing the carpet in the primary bedroom, they noticed something "off". They discovered that the room had been bumped out into the back yard. How did they discover this, you ask? Apparently, the floor was covered in a concrete slab (this was many years ago, so I don't remember all the deets). What was under the slab, you ask? (You people are nosy!) An in ground spa...wait for it... with STANDING WATER STILL IN IT! And mold, of course. Lots and lots of mold. How it passed inspection was never discovered. Their daughter still has allergy and asthma issues, many years later. Jamie, don't lick the mold. Just kill it!

Beautiful makeover!! One tip I saw on another channel: when removing the toilet, place a big black industrial size garbage bag around the frame so the 'juices' goes into the bag. ( I'm new to your channel so forgive me if you already use this tip.)

I love that you guys didn't remove it all. I think that's what too many people do, and then the oldness of a house disappears. However, a wallpaper and vinyl flooring in a bathroom? I once had leakage in my kitchen with vinyl flooring and the water ruined it quickly. The fumes will make the wallpaper let loose because that's what you do when you want to remove wallpaper, you either steam it or make it wet.

Hi Larissa! We didn’t notice any more texture than regular paint would leave. Just make sure you use the recommended 3/8” nap roller. 😊

Hey Jamie. If you put the toilet in the tub and rock it backwards you can get the last bit of water out. It'll help minimize the water spillage while taking the toilet outside.

Probably a sand and some dryex sanded down.

Great question! The mirror was held on by the framing which was 1x4s. We did have to patch some holes with drywall mud and paint before wallpaper 👍😊
