Rule of thumb: If you make your rent the first 3 days you work of the month you will be successful.

Girl after 10 years in a salon that took 60 percent of everything i made. When the pandemic hit it made me realised how I was so afraid to be on my own.. That I screwed myself. I have had people none stop message me wondering when I was going to do hair again after everything opened back up... But I am finnally ready. I am going to finally after 12 years of doing hair. Finally going to try booth renting. And your video is helping me. Thank you so much.

So based on your questions, I'm not even remotely ready to be out on my own,. But I just got me a salon suite anyway 😂😂 I think I may be a special case because there was a situation at the salon I was at and now I'm on my own anyway. The suite is currently being built so I actually have some time to get myself together! This is good insight for me anyway because there's some expenses I hadn't thought of yet, so thank you for that!

Just moved to a new state and the barbershop I'll be at does booth rental. Your tips and suggestions, were very concise. While I'm sure the shop owner will give me some suggestions, it's still good to do my own research in preparation. Thanks for this.

If you move from a "mall salon" to a privately owned salon without a brand name, my experience is that you will NOT retain most of your clientele.
@tazb69375 жыл бұрын
Also need to factor in loss of clientele if you move more than 10 miles or so. Advertising is also a big cost. One more thing, is to find out if you'll need to pay a deposit for your local electric or water companies. I had gotten a surprise hit of a $500 deposit for electric. Didn't see that coming. :(
@intuitivewellnessrituals5 жыл бұрын
Taz B those are very good points as well as so many other things like internet if using a merchant service instead of just cash.
@tazb69375 жыл бұрын
I did get it back, but not all of it. I got charged "administrative fees" just for the act giving me back my own money.
@stephanieallen64064 жыл бұрын
You don't need to advertise to get clients your clients are your advertisement and that's your best advertisement is word-of-mouth
@lf93412 жыл бұрын
you should not be paying an electric bill or water...l.

After I graduated school in 2006 , I started out at a chain and after that another chain. I always wanted my own independence . I left there and tried out house calls. Very interesting when shampooing hair in a small sink. Anyway starting a booth rental tomorrow and two clients had to reschedule already . I am excited but not excited to fail. So far my calculations for the first day I would break even but with the cancellations I have to fill that spot . I am trying to think positive but also realistic. I passed on another chain salon position to finally pursue this dream. I’m happy no matter what happens . It will be like starting over new. Always room to learn . I Love your video , helped me so much. Thank you .

My salon is switching to exclusively booth renting after me doing commission for a year and before I worked here I was at a chain salon doing hourly/commission. I’ve been really nervous even with all the research and studying past checks and comparing, I know I’ll make more money and I know I’ll be able to afford what I need, just not immediately.. so I’ve been worried if I should switch to another color line to save money or switch shampoos and all different things. My mind has been all over the place in a mix of excitement and worry 😅

okay so question I work for a certain company and have for about 3 years now and I have a decent amount of clients but its mostly a walk in only and that's usually what I get but im always handing out my business cards to people who love my work and connect well with. ive been doing hair now for almost 6 years so I have experience in hair. so im wondering how do I know im ready to be on my own booking wise. my weeks are different all the time. I hope this question makes sense
