While rotating the engine did you have the rocker arms already installed?

So I have a 3.7 jeep liberty. Received code P1391and starting making a god awful clacking noise on passenger side. Thought it wasa fallen rocker and opened valve cover. No fallen rocker but timing chain on this cam is very sloppy almost feels i can lift chain off. I know theyare hydraulic tensioners and may have slight slack depending on position of crank. Would you think a tensioner failed?

Thanks man! One more question: when I was torquing the head bolts an using the angle to do the 90..I felt a couple bolts really drive thmselves in seemingly more than all the others, have you ever felt that?

Replace all the chained an gears, now have chain slap on cam gears, do you know what’s up???

is there ever a time when the chain should not be tight up against all the guides. And if i have slack in the chain on the passenger side top run (About an inch of slack hanging from the top guide) with the bottom run tight,would you say that the problem is most likely a tensioner gone bad?
@jamiejonesthecarman7 жыл бұрын
should never be slack one has gone bad
