Ah that brings back memories of my 1989 1.1 with 5speed - it had a Webber carb on it so I regularly got it to 95mph easily, used to race anybody at the lights for kicks or whizz down the country lanes!
@silverstreak20064 жыл бұрын
Use a 1600 vv carb off of a CVH, linish the rocker pads, so you can set the valve clearances correctly, and she will rev right out in 4th gear and go over a ton downhill, no problem at all. 50 in second sees six grand, no problems at all. I think that could be a three main bearing supported crank, ideally a five main bearing crank for intermittent over-revs, make it quite good at low speeds. Timing advance on the dizzy for better quality fuel will make it a bit more perky. A k&N on the v v carb will make it sound a bit more interesting too.
@mrzee19514 жыл бұрын
@@silverstreak2006 well sure if the car was still around! Guy who bought it off me got t-boned and wrote it off. 95mph on skinny tyres was pretty much the max you could go as it got very skittish beyond that and any gusts of wind would shove you into the next lane 🤣
@chrishart85484 жыл бұрын
@@silverstreak2006 the 1.1 was OHV (pushrods) so a CVH carb won't fit. It's more like a crossflow engine from an Anglia On these you set the tappets the pushrod engines never rev out as the rods can't move fast enough and just bounce. If I remember there on 155/70/13 tyres so 95 mph is dangerous.

Lovely car that, my mum used to have a red mark 3 around the time I was born and kept it for around 3-4 years after. My first car is a 2006 Ford Fiesta Style Climate 1.25 litre petrol, really nice to drive but 1st and reverse gears can be a headache sometimes. I was really excited to see this video because I've always wanted to see what it's like importing a mark 3 Fiesta to the US and driving it there, but imagine if the RS Turbo got imported. That would be something I'd really like to see!

Hello, I have a question: what is the difference between 1.0 carburetor and 1.1 carburetor Ford Fiesta mk3? Are they the same carburetors? Is the engine electrics the same or is there any difference? I'm waiting for an answer

Nice to see they have these in the USA, I own a 1992 2 door 1300 "LA" model with just 22,000 miles needs some restoration work, as starting to show it's 28 years of age, but a very smart very clean car, overall, (see my KZbin Channel) if you want to see just how clean it is underneath! and it is a car used on the road!, the same car as seen in the Ford All Model Brochure for the 1992 Fiesta New "LA model. I loved seeing yours, great little car, and great condition, and yes I agree with you they are very reliable, and a great little car. Mine has done 92 MPH (on a track) once!!!, but i prefer 56 mph for best fuel economy.

lot´s of girls bought this fiesta and i remenber driving them at 140 km´s /h, the 1.1L , and it was released in 89/90 ,i had the previous model the rs1600 high-end version of it and it was a bit smaler than the polo g40,a dangerous car for it´s size and speed ,both cars were considered the end of many 18 years old life

Imagine replacing all the large cars on city streets with cars this size. Stick a modern, refined engine in it, job done. Yes it doesn't have modern levels of crash protection, but at town driving speeds it fine.

Noice, my first car (and only car) is a fiesta too, a MK7,5. In Brazil the MK3 fiesta was imported from Spain

I had a mk4 fiesta as my first car. I think its just a thing in England, you get a clapped out fiesta as a first car. Mine was a 1.25 and I remember doing 100mph GPS the day I passed my test the car felt like it was going to shake apart.

We`ve got it in Argentina and we knew it as the "spanish Fiesta" because they came from Spain

My first car was a blue 1.1 popular plus version with god knows how many miles on it, let's just say a lot. It was solid blue, probably "hand" painted (with a brush and emulsion) and rusty. Excellent fun little car, except the brakes used to stick, which meant pushing up the pedal with your foot. Of course with the brakes sticking the rear brake lights stayed on (with quite a bit of performance drop) so pushing the pedal back up with your foot fixed this (safety was paramount). Unfortunately Ford placed the brake sensor on the pedal mounts, so pushing the pedal up also used to shift the sensor up meaning that it always lit up the brake lights. To fix this you had to reach under the dash and push the sensor down (while driving). Basically, my car was the first in a long line of sheds that continues to this day. Oh, are you really sure that it has only 19000 on the clock? For cheapness (or perhaps they didn't expect their cars to last 100,000 miles plus Ford lopped off the 6th digit. Meant as soon as the car hit that marker everything would roll back to zero!

Love this car's. Have from the 1.1 up to the biggest engine all inclusive the 1.8 diesel. How is the reaction in the US with this fiesta? Gredings from Germany

Base model fords are now highly collectable and are very rare (compared to the high spec ones people took care of). I of kept the original thin tyres and suspension, as there is no way 50bhp is going to stress anything :-)

Oh it’s crying out for a Zetec engine conversion!!!! You got the focus in America didn’t you? The 2.0 zetec engine with pretty much bolt straight into your fiesta and make it a blast to drive !

Obviously you would need to modify the mounts, but space wise should fit quite snug
@upurkilt72464 жыл бұрын
@@tonyeff4447 dont neet to modify mounts mate you can buy the mounts from a rs1800 fiesta.
