I considered myself lucky, i did not have to share my son on holidays, because his terrible choice i made for his father. Then i realized that yeah its great for me, and our family took such good care of him, but he also had in the back of his brain, why dont i have a father ? So honestly every bday, an Christmas, i sent him cards or a gift in the mail, putting his fathers name on it. When my son was 15, his father decided he wanted to get to know his son. I was outraged an such to find out his father had 4 kids and married . I got nothing , no child support and i didnt want it. So he met his dad an the step mom was not happy, long story. However i told his dad what i did with 🎁 presents . His step mom told my son the truth. It was the worst that ever happened.

I'm about the age of your mom so I am out of touch with today's common phrasing. :-) Having said that, I'd like to ask why you refer to your home as "my home" or "Mom's home" when talking to the kids. You said you talk to them about how to get along with each other at "mom's home". Why not "OUR home" as they live there as well. No judgement intended, just asking because growing up it was "OUR home" not my parent's home. They were not divorced though.
