If you’re ever in this situation and don’t know all the specific rules, just don’t make any wide movements, take small, delicate mouthfuls, and make sure your mouth is always clean. Even if you miss something like use the wrong utensil or scoop the wrong way, people will still appreciate you making an effort to act appropriately.

@@rebelbecky276 generally, they’re old fashioned rules for high society (think Downton Abbey, but each country differs slightly) Ofc overly formal events aren’t very popular anymore, so this might score points with old rich people, but no one would expect it short of a high end charity gala

Also, use care in reaching for glasses, no banging/clanging. When toasting, it's done very gently, a soft touch to each glass.

Actually when it comes to etiquette glasses should never touch when toasting, only raised in the air. Clanking glasses were once considered poor etiquette.

It's not hard, actually, but parents are supposed to teach kids how to eat. If you're in doubt, however, just make gentle movements, avoid making harsh sounds, use cutlery from the farest to the nearest, smile and be as polite as you can.

I would just make a balls up I remember an ex friend in the 90s- we went to a coffee shop after the movies- I stirred my coffee and put the teaspoon on the table instead of the saucer- she made such a fuss and made a laughing stock out of me😢 I hated eating out - I have social anxiety A dimly lit spot is better ,with a view

It's very difficult not to make some mistakes when you speak a forerign language (I teach two). Making a mistake isn't an issue as long as communication is assured (we're not sitting for an international exam here). She speaks SIX languages! How about you?
