I saw John sing this live at In A Jam Down By The River. I held my wife's hand with my right hand. With my left hand, I wiped away the tears. What an amazing song.

This is exquisite, a numinous specimen of beauty; absolutely gut-wrenching. John Fullbright oozes soul; you can hear the grit in his vocal cords, like he rose straight out of the clay. What a gift he is. If you think that's undue hyperbole, I guess we can just agree to disagree. Cannot wait to see him live. And big, big thanks to Jam In The Van. Your sound engineer(s) is/are amazing. Please keep this good stuff coming.
@leftyelysium8 жыл бұрын
Have you seen him yet? I've seen him twice and both times were over the top! One at Cain's Ballroom in Tulsa, Oklahoma, and the other in sort of a "private" venue situation where it was super small (on purpose). I advise to see him when he's around you.

Well,phew,help. I am not often a commenter but this is the best song I have heard for years. Even Fred Eaglesmith would be hard pressed to compete with this. Tears in my eyes. and being Scottish lost it with yon bonie banks at the end.

"You take the low road to freedom, I'll take the low road to you." This is the lyric of my wife and our first 10 years of marriage. Doing great now, but it strikes straight to my heart about that time in our lives. The music speaks for its self. There is nothing you could possibly say with just words. Beautiful.

I really really like this song, I found the lyrics, worth to share!! --------------- Susie was a pearl of a woman And jack was a golden man He told her he'd love her forever He gave her a wedding band There parents said they were just children Love comes as fast as it leaves They think that they've built a foundation Till life knocks them down with a breeze Chorus Living comes natural to many Love comes natural to few You take the high road to freedom I'll take the low road to you Well Jack bought a brand new tractor The bank bought him the land Said The work may hard but it's honest I'll pay em by May if I can Sometimes they talk about children The names and things they'll do If its a girl they'll call her Joanne Shell grow up to be just like you Chorus Jack was out plowing the south end Trying to beat the next rain Susie she watched through the window As the downpour finally came He was riding the side of the terrace When the mud gave way to the wheel The tractor tipped over on Jack Cold was all he could feel Well he told his little wife not to worry Said The soft ground has broken my fall He told her he'd love her forever Then he didn't say nothin at all Well Susie grew old and gray headed Never did marry again Jack took the high road to freedom She took the low road to him
