Back then, only one person I knew guessed Pernida was a hand because of that one scene where Yhwach fused with the Soul King and you see Pernida grab the ceiling with its head which looked like two fingers.

Pernida was originally used by Ichibe until Yhwach absorbed it in their flashback meeting. Also, Pernida had multiple pupils, same as the Soul King and Yhwach and Ichigo when he was doing his training.

Extended lore also says that the Hyogoku was made using fragments of the Soul King, these also exist within the Fullbringers as the source of their power. Rangiku had one in her which Aizen stole for the Hyogoku, hence why Gin tried to steal it back. Basically, Soul King has dismembered parts lying around.

As a mangaka when designing a character with the villianous tendancies tend be the favourite due to the fact that the effort of design and how much detail and characteristics u can add to him without restraint since he isnt the main protagonist.and also you will be surprised that coming up with such creepy concepts comes to what it is once you watch load of horrors ect and you just think of a concept and think to your okay add this here that there ect l.anf when its done you be like wtf did i just draw😂😂😂😂😂
