Nice video, thanks. Had the B+D 18V 2.0Ah 28cm AFS grass trimmer. It served me well for a few years. Needed more power with battery so moved on to another brand, but no one can beat B+D in its affordable gardening tools. They give good usable products for the price.

Great video. I would only add that you need tom check the bottom trimmer cap to make note of the string diameter. I thought string was string and bought the wrong diameter and feeding was a nightmare. I bought the correct stuff and all back to normal.

My first weed trimmer was Black and Decker and I still have it. My new weed trimmer has more power and I can control the line easier so for trimming it is the one I use but it doesn't have that wheel for edging so I use the B&D for edging. This weed trimmer looks to be a good entry level model I would recomend going with a battery powered weed trimmer than a corded one, it isn't impossible to accidently get the trimmer line to come into contact with the extension cord.
@jamminjamy8 ай бұрын
Thanks for your advice. What brand is your new weed trimmer?

Thanks for the note and letting us know about your experience! Are you able to make sure the string is wound properly to keep it from jamming?
@judithadair23635 ай бұрын
@@jamminjamy How do you know if it is wound properly? I plan to buy the extra spools, but just in case it would be helpful to know how to wind it. Thanks.

I had the same issue until I sprayed the center shaft which holds the spool with Deep Creep by Seafoam. It still jammed about 5 more jams after spraying but after that it was golden. I’m thinking dirt or debris jammed it up but the Deep Creep made by Seafoam fixed it for me. It might work for you. Side note, mine had also been in storage for 3+ years cause I couldn’t get it to work but took it out to try again and all is good now. Best of luck

Your video is so far the complete guide but the guard doesn’t go all the way so I put the screw on the big hole instead of the hole where it’s suppose to go, I think it will be ok? Thanks for your instruction👍
@jamminjamy6 ай бұрын
The guard should snap into place. You may need to give it a couple firm taps with your palm... you can kind of see me doing it in the video here: kzbin.info/www/bejne/i56oqaaih9J8hsUsi=gZacHCj0KKROm4Qa&t=71

How do you take the guard off? Mine gets in the way of view when i want to do lawn edging
@jamminjamy6 ай бұрын
You just need to unscrew the guard screw and then slide it off. You may need a flathead screw driver to release it. It would be the reverse order of what I talk about here: kzbin.info/www/bejne/i56oqaaih9J8hsUsi=Wb7Rsf1nTZNXExIC&t=65

Since this is a corded version, it would have been nice if you would have mentioned what gauge extension cord you need. My understanding that is if you go over 50 ft you need 14 gauge but if you're 50 ft or less you can use 16 gauge. Otherwise an outstanding video. The biggest issue with all these trimmers seems to be line feed problems.
@jamminjamy6 ай бұрын
Thanks! This is a really good point and I appreciate you bringing it up! I believe you are correct, since this is a 6.5amp tool if you go over 50 ft you should use a 14 gauge extension cord, if you go over 100 feet you should use 12 gauge, and if you are under 50 ft then 16 gauge is ok according to this website: support.blackanddecker.com/hc/en-us/articles/360057225571-What-extension-cord-should-I-use-for-my-outdoor-power-tool Thanks again for pointing this out :)

Yeah, let us know how it works out for you! I feel like if the trimmer line is wound properly (in case you do it yourself) you should be ok. If you buy the pre-wound coils that could help and the reviews seem to be decent.

Is it useful for 10000 sq/feet lawn area. Pl update so that I place order
@jamminjamy3 ай бұрын
It is useful for larger lawns as long as you have a good electric cord that is long enough and you don't mind being attached to a cord. Hope this helps!

You can see the cutting in action at the end of the video here, it cuts pretty well. It may not look like it at times since the guard pushes the taller grass away before it gets cut: kzbin.info/www/bejne/i56oqaaih9J8hsUsi=EEVL_uDDviwd4zWK&t=506
