Jamo's trilbied stick insect suit, his tongue-in-cheek delivery and the kitsch go-go trio deliver perfectly on this forgotten infectious soul gem. It deserves big time recognition.

Absolute belter. A staple of the scene when I was kicking off in the late 60s-early 70s. Sadly, it never seems to be played out these days. Shame

The record was on Thomas, a subsidiary of small Chicago record company St Lawrence. Label was run by Eddie Thomas, Curtis Mayfield's manager at the time, but not a Curtom release.

Thanks for the footage showing the singer of this minor hit back in the day! This was released in an age when there were a number of "007" inspired songs and TV shows, including "Secret Agent Man" by Johnny Rivers, "Goldfinger" by Shirley Bassey, "Agent Double O Soul" and "Soul Master" by Edwin Starr and "Special Agent 34-24-38" by Mamie Galore, not to mention, the TV show "Get Smart." It would be revived, much later by "Spy For Brotherhood" by the Miracles (after Smokey Robinson left) and the "Austin Powers" movies.

I love this song. when I was eleven when it came out, I didn't know about j. Edgar Hoover's evil empire that was the FBI and the bureau was generally respected. now that I know the awful things it did to black people I have to wonder what ol j. Edgar thought about this huge hit! black people could not be agents for the FBI then except in servile roles specially designated by the then 40+ year head of the bureau. so, the song is ironic historically but it's still hot! thank you Jamo Thomas!
