Holy cow I love these mage challenges. I understand you didn’t want to use any offensive spells on enemies, but couldn’t you still use polymorph and counter spell since they aren’t causing any damage? I think that still fits the challenge considering you are using other spells just none that do damage.

Their are 6 cosmic magic types Light, Void, Fel, Arcane, Death, Life, there are also elemental magics fire, water, earth, air. A fire mage and frost mage do not use elemental fire/water magic they use only arcane, when they cast fireball it isnt actually a fireball what it is, is heated arcane energy till it resembles fire, same with frost, cold arcane energy till it freezes. All mages do is control the temp of their arcane spells

TECHNICALLY -- Wands scale with Strength + agility, counts as physical damage, even if it says ''fire / shadow etc'', even though its a wand, it scales like a bow/gun -- its not ''mellee'' but a physical only mage might be easier :P

Wands damage stat scales with Str/Agi yeah, but their attack speed scales in three ways. Attackspeed to determine the cooldown between casts. Spell haste to determine how quickly the spell casting animation recovers. Casting speed to determine how fast the spell is cast. Basically an Int/Agi mage can cast wanding better. Also the damage from wands IS elemental, it just scales with weapon stats because... it's a weapon.

I am not sure how accurate this is. But if you are worried about glancing blows using a fishing rod as your weapon may resolve that problem.

Weightstones and potions would require him to utilize the AH/trading (which is not allowed in the rules) or to respec his professions constantly (previous episode claimed engineering was the best for melee mage and it would not be worth the time investment to be swapping).
