Episode synopsis: When a cat burglar breaks into several houses while displaying some bizarre behaviors such as eating raw meat and writing on walls with lipstick, Crockett and Tubbs find themselves working together with Ray Gilmore. Unfortunately, his dedication to the case has taken a severe toll on his mental well-being which has led him to violently snap at agitated bystanders and even a former cat burglar whose last hit made him a paraplegic. Sonny and Rico's final straw comes when Gilmore calls them to claim that he got the prowler, only to discover that his insanity drove him to shoot a refrigerator. This sends Gilmore to be committed to a psychiatric ward. This causes Crockett to take on the case. Unfortunately, like Gilmore, Sonny becomes increasingly obsessed with capturing the prowler with tactics such as thinking like him and even pressing victims a bit too hard. This causes for Tubbs, Lieutenant Castillo and another superior known as Captain Cahill to become worried about Sonny's own mental state.
