Great to see they are giving you this equipment in advance. For ages, we've had to put up by previews from those who are not really experienced or good with wildlife photography, brand fans or ambassadors, or photographers who are not good communicators. The result being we usually have to wait some time, before the equipment falls into the hands of someone that knows what they're doing, knows how to test equipment in the field, or communicate that well. No idea why the manufacturers took so long to catch on.

@@jan_wegener That's the one. You would have thought the 500mm f5.6 PF would have woken up Canon, but they've never tried to replicate it, even though Sigma pulled it off. But 600 is better than 500.

The Reason Why The Climate is Hot: Nothing Can Ever Surpass the Truth “I have always been keen on guiding the astray who followed those who earned the wrath of Allaah. Unfortunately, they were never guided because they did not use their minds to understand the Words of Allaah in the Great Qur'an, to believe it is the Truth. But, they will never understand it (the Qur'an) except through the torment of Allaah, Lord of the heavens, earth, and what is between them, and Lord of the Great Throne. In line with the Word of Allaah the Exalted: {وَإِن مِّن قَرْيَةٍ إِلَّا نَحْنُ مُهْلِكُوهَا قَبْلَ يَوْمِ الْقِيَامَةِ أَوْ مُعَذِّبُوهَا عَذَابًا شَدِيدًا ۚ كَانَ ذَٰلِكَ فِي الْكِتَابِ مَسْطُورًا ‎﴿٥٨﴾وَمَا مَنَعَنَا أَن نُّرْسِلَ بِالْآيَاتِ إِلَّا أَن كَذَّبَ بِهَا الْأَوَّلُونَ ۚ وَآتَيْنَا ثَمُودَ النَّاقَةَ مُبْصِرَةً فَظَلَمُوا بِهَا ۚ وَمَا نُرْسِلُ بِالْآيَاتِ إِلَّا تَخْوِيفًا ‎﴿٥٩﴾‏} صدق الله العظيم [سورة الإسراء] Qur'an - Surah: al-Israa' - Verses: 58-59 O mankind, here you are feeling the approach of the torment of Saqar, the greatest calamity. And I have already told you with truth that you have entered the summer of Saqar starting from 2023, despite having been constantly warning you of the passing of planet Saqar for 19 years. Unfortunately, the more I warn you, the more you run away and disbelieve in the existence of Allaah. Today's nations are like the people of the prophet Noah, they do not fear the majesty of Allaah (See Qur'an, Surah: Noah). Anyway, following a sweltering summer at the North Pole, the people of planet Earth, in both north and south, have declared the arrival of the autumnal equinox. At the same time, residents of Antarctica declared that the vernal (spring) equinox had begun there. And far is that from happening. I had already given you a ruling before with the truth in a previous statement that the summer of Saqr was on the horizon of the Antarctic continent of the planet Earth, eliminating the winter of the far pole where nobody lives. Then, Saqar annihilated the winter of countries that share the Antarctic climate. Their winter has been replaced with heat, so that they may understand what I am warning them of. Those who live in the Antarctic are waiting for which spring after the annihilation of the Antarctic winter? Do they not reason?! Here is the summer of Saqar, which will attack the two temperate seasons (autumn in the north of the Earth and spring in the south of the Earth). And it will scientifically fail all your weather forecasting devices. It will mystify your knowledge and destroy your credibility among the peoples of the worlds. Indeed, ultimate proofs belong to Allaah, O worshippers of the Physics of Nature. We shall wait and see if the Physics of Nature, given to you by Allaah as a means of mercy for you, will submit to the power of Allaah, thus it turns against you and makes your knowledge equal to zero. Anyway, given that the summer of Saqar swept through the four seasons, there will be a war of hurricanes of fire attacking forests and homes, and a flood of water pouring down at the suitable time whenever Allaah wills and not when you will. So where are the inventors of artificial rain to extinguish wildfires if they are truthful? I truly pity Arabs for being manipulated by Arab and non-Arab devils to demolish the fundamental beliefs in the clear verses of the great Qur'an, thus they believe in the opposite of the challenge of Allaah in His Words: {أَفَرَأَيْتُمُ الْمَاءَ الَّذِي تَشْرَبُونَ ‎(٦٨) أَأَنتُمْ أَنزَلْتُمُوهُ مِنَ الْمُزْنِ أَمْ نَحْنُ الْمُنزِلُونَ ‎(٦٩) لَوْ نَشَاءُ جَعَلْنَاهُ أُجَاجًا فَلَوْلَا تَشْكُرُونَ ‎(٧٠)‏} صدق الله العظيم [ سورة الواقعة] Qur'an - Surah: al-Waqi’ah- Verses: 68-70 Lo and behold, non-Arabs and Arabs! I swear by Allaah, I am thinking of disbelievers in the eras of prophets and I find them closer to knowing Allaah than the nations of this atheist world in the era of Allaah's caliph al-Mahdi. Disbelievers in the era of prophets were closer to becoming believers if it was not for their association of partners besides Allaah owing to their blind following to their fathers. See their response to the messengers sent by their Lord in the Word of Allaah the Exalted: {وَلَئِن سَأَلْتَهُم مَّنْ خَلَقَ السَّمَاوَاتِ وَالْأَرْضَ لَيَقُولُنَّ اللَّهُ ۚ قُلْ أَفَرَأَيْتُم مَّا تَدْعُونَ مِن دُونِ اللَّهِ إِنْ أَرَادَنِيَ اللَّهُ بِضُرٍّ هَلْ هُنَّ كَاشِفَاتُ ضُرِّهِ أَوْ أَرَادَنِي بِرَحْمَةٍ هَلْ هُنَّ مُمْسِكَاتُ رَحْمَتِهِ ۚ قُلْ حَسْبِيَ اللَّهُ ۖ عَلَيْهِ يَتَوَكَّلُ الْمُتَوَكِّلُونَ ‎﴿٣٨﴾‏} صدق الله العظيم [سورة الزمر] Qur'an - Surah: az-Zumar- Verse: 38 So call upon your gods that you worship other than Allaah to save you from the evil of Allaah's cosmic and Corona war if you are truthful. Here you have entered the summer of Saqar, so do not wait for the four known seasons from now on because they along with winter in the south pole and the coming winter have been replaced by the summer of Saqar. Do you reckon I am talking nonsense? How strange your stance is, non-Arabs and Arabs! Logically if Nasser Mohammed al-Yamani were truly truthful in announcing the entrance of planet Earth in the climate of planet Saqar, the four seasons would be annihilated that perhaps you may think. Indeed Allaah's proofs are far-reaching. Planet Saqar is going to be blazed by the command of Allaah to be a mercy from Allaah upon you for it is better for you to feel its blaze than aboding inside it. Also, perhaps feeling its hotness causes you any remembrance. Indeed, Hellfire (Saqar) will produce fuming and growling sounds towards the Earth and they shall surround the four cardinal directions (South, North, East, and West). This is the loud roaring of Planet Saqar which appears to mankind on the horizon from time to time, in line with the Word of Allaah the Exalted: {إِذَا رَأَتْهُم مِّن مَّكَانٍ بَعِيدٍ سَمِعُوا لَهَا تَغَيُّظًا وَزَفِيرًا ‎﴿١٢﴾‏} صدق الله العظيم [سورة الفرقان] Qur'an - Surah: al-Furqan- Verse: 12 Because it will pass on the Earth from a distance, it will not collide with it. You will see the circle of planet Saqar when it rises from the far Southeast to the far Southwest. It will be conspicuous in the visible universe. On the night it passes, it will obscure the horizons of planet Earth from the four cardinal directions. You are also going to witness the sign of the evident smoke of a painful torment. So wait, indeed I too am waiting with you, and I know what I am saying, in line with the Word of Allaah the Exalted: {حم ‎(١) وَالْكِتَابِ الْمُبِينِ ‎(٢) إِنَّا أَنزَلْنَاهُ فِي لَيْلَةٍ مُّبَارَكَةٍ ۚ إِنَّا كُنَّا مُنذِرِينَ ‎(٣) فِيهَا يُفْرَقُ كُلُّ أَمْرٍ حَكِيمٍ ‎(٤) أَمْرًا مِّنْ عِندِنَا ۚ إِنَّا كُنَّا مُرْسِلِينَ ‎(٥) رَحْمَةً مِّن رَّبِّكَ ۚ إِنَّهُ هُوَ السَّمِيعُ الْعَلِيمُ ‎(٦) رَبِّ السَّمَاوَاتِ وَالْأَرْضِ وَمَا بَيْنَهُمَا ۖ إِن كُنتُم مُّوقِنِينَ ‎(٧) لَا إِلَٰهَ إِلَّا هُوَ يُحْيِي وَيُمِيتُ ۖ رَبُّكُمْ وَرَبُّ آبَائِكُمُ الْأَوَّلِينَ ‎(٨) بَلْ هُمْ فِي شَكٍّ يَلْعَبُونَ ‎(٩) فَارْتَقِبْ يَوْمَ تَأْتِي السَّمَاءُ بِدُخَانٍ مُّبِينٍ ‎(١٠) يَغْشَى النَّاسَ ۖ هَٰذَا عَذَابٌ أَلِيمٌ ‎(١١) رَّبَّنَا اكْشِفْ عَنَّا الْعَذَابَ إِنَّا مُؤْمِنُونَ ‎(١٢)‏} صدق الله العظيم [سورة الدخان] Qur'an- Surah: ad-Dukhan- Verses: 1-12” Imam Mahdi Nasser Mohammed al-Yamani 09- Rabi’ Awwal- 1445 AH | 24- September- 2023 Full Official Statement: Mahdialumma com

There's another downside to the precapture that you didn't mention Jan. Precapture absolutely DEVOURS batteries! Precapture meters, focuses, tracks, and carries out all the other functions necessary to make the images, even when you aren't pushing all the way down -- even if you NEVER push all the way down. The battery is being used the whole time.

Really cool approach, combining a fast semi-stacked 9ms sensor with a mechanical shutter. It's an ideal balance of both! 9ms falls right in between the Z8/9 3.7ms speed, and say the Canon R6II at 14ms (I think around 14?). Still good for most birds, animals, baseball, sports etc. And then for high-high speed, there's the mechanical shutter. No pre-order for me, since I have the Z8 & Zf, but would love to get the Z6III & grip this coming year / once it's on sale. Great stuff, thanks Jan!

Extremely good pre-review ( the best so far for me personally ! ) -- a lot of valuable details -- so I guess i need to be a bit more patient and save some money and sell some gear in order to get this camera, which is exactly what I was waiting Nikon to make for quite a while now ( still using Nikon DSLR`s together with a Sony a7IV which I do not love much at all, just not my thing). The hint about the front dial might be extremely important and i do hope that this important point is also on the list of other photographers who had the opportunity to try the camera out. Maybe Nikon can still make a slight change, just protruding it about a half to one millimeter further ! Thanks a lot for the video - super nice environment and wonderful shots and videos ! Makes me really want to go to Australia again ( after 12 years ) soon ! Beste Grüße aus Deutschland ( was sich seit ein paar Jahren gerade selbst demontiert ...😜 )

Amazing Video Jan ! Perfectly balanced and honest review. Very tempted (not to switch) but to slowly move towards Nikon with Z6III from Canon eco-system for wildlife just because Nikon has good Wildlife lenses lineup. I know R5II will be amazing but still RF Prime are super expensive. Yes, the Kingfisher shot was amazing. In fact I am always looking forward to your videos.

Im going to be photographing both "small" and "big" birds and animals so for that reason im leaning a little towards the R7 and the RF 100-500 for the extra reach and versatility but let me know your thoughts on this. Thanks!

Many thanks for this review. Clearly stating where the camera falls a bit short compared to its bigger but more expensive brothers, but showing what it is capable of in the right hands. Best part was the handheld video of the kingfisher. I watched another preview of the camera, where the guy complained about the stabilisation (using a wider lens even). Maybe didn’t have enough maple Sirup for breakfast. Anyway- thanks again for this good preview!

The z6 mark iii looks like a really impressive camera, the only downside for me is the lack of that bird tracking, which seems to be the only thing missing from the autofocus systems. I honestly hope that comes via a firmware update. As so many birders looking into the more budget options would snap up this camera, probably even without it. Honestly the specs and look of this is pretty amazing, and the value is definitely there.

Beware of the fierce baby swans indeed Jan ;-) Great to see Nikon granted you again a preview of a new camera ! I'd say it's about time Canon follows suit, and I'm giving them a deadline of about one month 😛 And you know why ! Your footage was awesome (most certainly that kingfisher 😍) so it seems Nikon finally delivers a compelling option in this mid segment. Really wondering how it compares to the R6ii. It probably has an advantage with the partial (whatever that means) stacked sensor and the CFxB card, but it's still pending a bird-AF firmware upgrade, some nice features are unfortunately not Jared Polin proof (aka jpg only) and it looks like they forgot to protect the sensor when swapping lenses .. So maybe this Z6iii will trigger Canon to recycle the R3 sensor in a R6iii ?

Could you do a comparison between the nikon z6iii and the sony a7iv. I think these are the best “amateur” birding kamera’s paired with the 180/200-600 zoom lenses. These combo’s are priced similar and both can give awesome results as i saw in your video’s really curious how the sony a7iv holds up to this new nikon z6iii.

This camera fills a gap that was long needed. Since the Z8 is too expensive and the Z6 II too bad to pair it with one of the well-priced telephoto prime lenses of Nikon. 400mm 4.5, 600mm 6.3, 800mm 6.3… But still the Z6 III is missing 2 things for me: Most of all, a lower price. The price is too close to the Z8 at the moment (in germany, the Z8 was already below 4k with cashback and so on) And also: Why doesnt the Z6 III have Precapture with RAW?! As long as they dont even manage to figure that out, I dont see a reason to switch from Sony. I will rather save up for a 300 2.8 🙂

I have the Z9 but general work makes me reach for my Zf due to its size and “simplicity”. I should have my Z6III next week but I am really on the fence about keeping it or the Zf. Love the Zf in many ways but bigger glass really makes you want to have a modern body. If I only I had an extra $2500 to blow and keep both. 😅

Nice video. You did not mentioned ergonomics. Other reviewers have mentioned a bigger grip than the z6ii, but it looks from the specs that it is still the same height. I had Z6ii (just sold it) and find it too small especially when paired with the 180-600 or my 500mm f5.6 with the FTZ adaptor. Do you feel like the chunkier grip compensates? The Z8 is taller, more like my D500, and is $500USD off here in the USA. I photograph birds 98% of the time. Wondering what to do?

I am considering this camera and at the moment are using the Fujifilm XHS2 for BIF with the 150-600mm lens (900mm FF equiv). From yours and other reviews it looks like the Z6iii has much faster and stickier AF than the XH2s but at 24mp FF compared to 26mp APSc I am concerned the lower pixel density might mean I would be no better off. With the FF camera at 600mm I would have to crop about 1.5 times tighter for the same size bird in the frame. Would this mean less detail taking into account the better low light and lower noise in the FF photo.

Jan…got a question on your AF setup since I am considering borrowing some of it. You say you've got Auto Area on the AF On button, 3D on DISP, and Fn1 (on the Z6III) to Single point. Am I correct that DISP is set to AF Area and AF ON, AF On to Currently selected AF area and AF On, and Fn1 to RSF Hold with Single point being the only option…or do you have Fn1 set to Single Point and AF ON? Seems like RSF Hold would be more comfortable and easy to use, but that would require AF On be set to Currently selected area and AF ON. Second question…are those the only 3 area you ever use or do you use either Cycle Area (not on the Z6III obviously since it doesn't have Cycle AF Area) or some other way of assigning a different AF area to AF ON button? Thanks…great video again. I'm still homing in on the ultimate AF setup for my Z8s and use a combination of Steve Perry's and Hudson Henry's setups now but yours is intriguing but before I go mucking around int it I wanted to see exactly what you're doing.
