An astonishing work which thrills, excites and hits you between the eyes... "This will be unlike any other mass... I will show people how to talk to God"... love it!

A master work by a brilliant composer. As well as his Taras Bulba suite all his works are very deep and express a particular slavonic style. The organ passage is the cherry on the cake.I appreciate a lot this version one of the best. Thanks for sharing

It must be the Decca recording, I listened to it so many times; the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra conducted by Rudolf Kempe which was recorded May 1973 in Kingsway Hall London. A truely sublime performance by one of the great conductors from the golden era of classical music. In my opinion by far the best recording of this fantastic piece of music.

Certainly the best performance I've ever heard. Rudolf Kempe didn't get the publicity that the major recording companies gave to other conductors but as you rightly say one of the greats without any doubt

@@TheVaughan5 Kempe was really great, unfortunately did not get the public recognition he deserved. His Strauß and the Brahms Symphonies No1,3,and 4 with the Berlin Philharmonic are flawless.

Well done cameronpaul. We still have the recording of the wonderful Kempe and, you are correct - it IS the Kempe version - and damn good it is, too!

You should have declared the performers. Fortunately, some of us recognize it as the wonderful recording by Rudolf Kempe and the Royal Philharmonic. Soloists are Teresa Kubiak, Robert Tear, Wolfgang Schone, and John Brighton, with the Brighton Festival Chorus. recorded in London in 1973.

Fan-tas-tic piece! Thanks for sharing. Who is playing?

+Arnold van der Waals I think this is the Decca/London recording - Rudolf Kempe/Royal Philharmonic Orch./Brighton Festival Chorus/soloists. Recorded in the early 1970's Many years ago I owned the l.p. and if memory serves me correctly I think this is the same recording.

Don't give the lengths of the movements. Give me the time for when they begin.
