Seeing the huge crowds takes away from peaceful surroundings of Ha Long Bay. I was lucky to visit 5 years ago and there was a lot less visitors. We kayaked to the cave as bamboo boats weren’t an option and it was stunning. I hope you enjoyed your trip!

We were on this boat ( Ambassador) few months ago. It’s an amazing experience. Food was great but you know what was even better? Massage. Try the massage service there , a bit pricey(700k vnd or 28 USD ) but well worth it

Did the same thing as you but 3days 2 nights.. went to different areas but I agree that the activities are crowded and I would be ok with just staying on the boat looking at the view. My main downside (because it wasn't that crowded on my trip) is that the Vietnamese menue felt western-style and bland compared to the food on the mainland.. could have been just our boat, but everything lacked that extra kick off lime, chili, fish sauce and salt. Must be because of the tourism and they change the food for that but beside that.. yes best sleep and views of my life and as usual from my travelling in Vietnam the people who work there are just amazing and so friendly. If I were to come back I would just chill on the ship but I would still say that you need to go on the activities they provide. If I didn't on my first time I wouldn't have tasted snake wine for an example and it was actually really sweet and good.. but yeah, be prepared for the crowd.

Ha Long Bay has been a dream of mine since a friend went 30+ years ago, but I am actually a bit shocked right now by how much things have changed since then. there were fishing and other locals boats here and there, and also the occasional tourist cruiser, but it was nothing like this cruise ship soup. and ofc I do go to popular tourist spots from time to time, too, but generally hoards of tourist like this is a big no no for me, so I was very happy to hear you conclude, that despite the crowds, it was all worth it :) I will definitely keep this tour in mind cos the accommodations themselves looked really good.

I have been to ha long bay on a day trip by boat ,cave etc. Food was so so. Have to share with others. A bit awkward. This cruise looks great. Buffet is better. Dont have to sit with strangers especially sharing food. I went to the same places as you went. We didnt get down to the place that Jan said was quite artificial. The rest went on a hike or stay on the boat. We nearly died doing the cave .leg problem and respiratory problem but we made it to the most beautiful scenery after we came out of the cave. Its the biggest and most beautiful cave Iv'e been to.

Vietnam has one more most beautiful cave you can come and it called Paradise Cave(Dong Hoi Province). Yeah, you can lost in that Paradise Cave. But, if you want more adventure, you have to pay 7,000 dollars for Son Doong Cave with about 5-7 days to explore it!

Great video. I’m glad you compared the bay to El Nido. My wife and I are thinking of skipping Ha Long Bay and maybe just go for a night or two on Cat Ba island and see Lan Ha bay on a quick ride from shore. I feel like in El Nido we were able to be alone early in the morning on a private cruise therefore not needing to do the Ha Long Bay thing. Anyone have an opinion on this?

10:12, Oh yeah I agree with you, it's somewhat similar to El Nido, Palawan in the Philippines. 20:38, Wow it's somewhat or sometimes similar to going inside the cave Batu Caves in Kuala Lumpur, I didn't know they have that long kind of cave in Vietnam. Hope you like and enjoy exploring inside the cave in Batu caves. Which cave is your best highlight, Ha Long bay cave or Batu Caves in Kuala Lumpur? I only been to Batu caves to explore inside the cave in 2014 to 2015, it's good, awesome and I enjoy it. 22;45, Really when the boat is moving and shaking a little bit, you get sick? No way, wow.
