People really forget that Hera is her own person( goddess), her story is actually so sad because she didn't actually want to marry Zeus but he cheated to become her husband. Her entire domain is marriage so when her own husband cheats her heart, mind, soul and domain are attacked. Even though she could've reacted better, it's not entirely her fault. This song perfectly describes their relationship and any in which the woman is suppressed of her identity. Absolutely loved it 🤩💖

Except she literally can’t retaliate against him. The time she tried, she tried to start a rebellion with other olympians. Zeus found out and strung Hera from the sky with golden chains. He left her there screaming in agony for all the gods to see for days. He used his own wife as an example of what happened when they defied him. Which is why she goes after the women and children from his infidelity

Janani, this song was so amazing, I love how it portrayed Hera in a positive light because her story and the way you told it really speaks for so many. Zeus is always the king of the gods, god of the sky, etc, THEN he's Hera's husband. But Hera first and foremost is the wife of Zeus. Even her title is the goddess of marriage, so no matter what her role is "The wife". And then the way the song talks about being free, it's like the realization when you are in a toxic relationship, that you were so much happier before. This song is so beautiful yet tragic at the same time. Hera traded everything in that marriage while Zeus gave up nothing at all, (Hence, "appendage". Zeus could easily live without it, but if the appendage is cut off its deemed useless without the person attached to it). I love all your songs but this one is my favourite!💜💜

I know this is about romantic relationships, but as someone who was stuck between two arguing siblings whom I love to death my entire childhood, this song speaks to me so much. As I find my way in adulthood I’ve come to realize I never built a sense of self because it never mattered what I really thought or wanted because I just said what was needed as mediator to diffuse their fights. I always tried to validate both of them and not take a side to cause more conflict. (“Now I use the royal we” hits a bit too close to home) I don’t hold it against them because I have good relationships with them both individually, but man I wish their particular blends of mental illness and personality weren’t so severe and clashing.
