This was really good, Jance. I have been avoiding buying higher priced items because my retail price would be more than I'm comfortable charging. But, the fact that I would be making more profit in dollars, rather than margin, is better than not getting them at all.

I'm just starting my boutique, how many different items did you start with? Cause I feel like I'm gonna have to order A LOT with all the different sizes and stuff.

With the profits you mentioned would it be less when you take into account other expenses? (Website fees, packaging, shipping etc)?

Hi Jance. I'd like to ask question regarding pricing. So I want to understand how would you then run a 50% off sale when your profit margins are so tight? Wouldn't you be essentially working at a loss?
@JanceChartae2 жыл бұрын
So the goal is to never actually have to run sales like that or offer discounts that are that large. I only buy things that I’m confident in my ability to sale to my audience. Most of my items have a 58-72% profit margin. So that means on 52% - 72% off is the biggest discount I could offer in order to just break even. You’d need to know the profit margin on each item individually to know how steep of a discount you can offer if necessary. Hope this is helpful!
@koketsopine2 жыл бұрын
@@JanceChartae okay I understand. But when I started on Shopify. How I worked on my pricing it showed me that my calculations aren't as I would want them to be right. Then that's when I'd price the item 3 time more than I have manufactured if for. My customers aren't as pleased about it and I find myself giving discounts anyway to just make a little bit of profit to compensate on the loss. How would you advice me specifically on proper pricing that can get my customers to be more understanding?

Hey Jance when buying your pieces for the season do you normally stick to a color story? Like for example next launch you want to stick to plums and mauves etc? Or do you just purchase what you think will sell?

@JanceChartae3 жыл бұрын
Nope! Not everyday. Maybe 2-3 times a week. Sometimes more though depending on how business is going.
@queenlene92183 жыл бұрын
If you notice all the big Companies put push out notifications everyday i just wanted to tell you that .
@JanceChartae3 жыл бұрын
Yep I’ve noticed but those are big businesses with bigger resources and better control over inventory flow and budgets. Also, most of them send mass messages to their entire audience. Very few create segmented notifications that are relevant and timely which often results in low open rates and unsubscribes. For smaller businesses, unless you have a large list and have segmented it well, it doesn’t make sense to send notifications every day.
