There’s something soul crushing about this song. It’s the sound of crying and wailing for someone you know can’t come back.

I worked at a radio station in the late 80s that had all the Jandek LPs in the record library...at one point a friend and I went into a local record store in Tampa, FL, and they had two sealed copies of this one in the dollar bin! I still have mine...

O.D. Jones Lucky! I recently paid almost $100 for one. The most I've paid for a single disc record.

yeah i got that one too eventually, and Interstellar Discussion, which rarely comes up for sale. Had to stop with the Jandek collecting and be satisfied with what I had. Lately I've been into original pressings of classic albums in good shape and japanese pressings with the obi strip. Record collecting is a ridiculous rabbit hole lol.

Some of the best artists that sing about sad stuff are half never remembered because some people don't like thinking about that and some do.
@kelechi_776 ай бұрын
not really, it's just some of this stuff takes a while to be appreciated. Morrisey put it best, it takes deaths for artists to be recognized, it's once they're gone that you see the obituaries and mentions in Rolling Stone and the Guardian, the documentaries, the tribute albums, compilations... etc. No matter how weird, obscure, cult or avant-garde an artist may be it always happens, hell if they are all of the above then their death will really propel them since they already have the mythology and legend status to heighten the art. It's sad but that's just how it is for these kinds of artists. I would love a world where they live to get their flowers and everyone feels their influence while they are alive and not when they are no longer among us
